Versant Sud/South Side Summit Sector Trail # 23 Taschereau, OPENING!

A file shot of Taschereau as a reminder
of what you can look forward to here!

Taschereau is a big, big local favourite, and it is
the first publicly available Sud/South Black Diamond
Expert challenge level for this new season so we
would expect lots of enthusiastic traffic there today.

It is likely that initial machine processed surfaces
may have a somewhat course range of particle sizes,
but it will respond very quickly to break-in traffic so
this is your notice to get out there and do your part!

ALSO....

Big Snow Today?

At the very least, there are very good chances today
could be a big snow day.

Furthermore, there are also very good chances that
this snowfall event coming up later on after lunch
could also be a big “Orographic” snowfall event.

That is where warm, moist air is forced up into cooler
atmospheric temperatures by the the wind pushing it
up the ramp-like shape of the Mountain, causing rates
of snowfall volume in that inherently cooler air over the
trail network elevations to significantly exceed ground
forecast levels.

Here is a link to the T360 definition of Orographic:

Weather Notes:

At least, roughly about 12 hours of snowfall, some of
which may be of quite high intensity.

One of the attributes of this forecast profile we really
like is the relatively low wind velocity shown at under
10 km’s from the S/W, so coming up the Mountain
from just over the Versant Soleil Quad peak, crossing
over the Summit towards the Lowell Thomas Quad peak.

Of course, we all know the wind can be a lot higher
at the top, however this forecast suggests that it
may be low enough on an overall basis to allow
a lot of snow to accumulate evenly over the entire
Mountain footprint with an emphasis/bias on all
Summit sectors as well as within the Lowell Thomas
Sector of the upper Nord/North side zone. As a bonus,
there could be a secondary snowfall accumulation
zone within the Edge Sector, however we’d have to call
that a future benefit because there’s no indication for
openings there, as yet. Maybe soon?

What we think is going to happen is just a wee bit of wind
“push” over the Summit that could end up generating
a “backfill” effect as snowfall settles into the calmness
of the shelter behind the top of the Mountain. The potential
is within the 12 hours of duration that a conveyer belt-like
effect of snowfall delivery of continuous natural snowmaking
could have with this active weather profile.

We could be wrong, but statistically, the odds are in
our favour for big snow.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Super easy and super fun across all skill levels
of freshly groomed. With the potential of a
super snowy afternoon, things could get
interesting really quickly, however challenge
may go up if it turns out to be any kind of
dumping event.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Waiting, waiting, waiting....

Here’s hoping for that favourable orographic snowfall
in the Upper Lowell Thomas Sector. We think that could
change things overnight, maybe even late this aft.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
