Change Of Plans...

Yesterday our “Escalating refinements over cryogenic influences” idea
for today was rendered mute overnight by 20cm’s of fresh snowfall,
so todays theme is now...

The Unique Properties Of Abundant Very Cold/Cryogenic Snow.

Topic Under Construction, will come up later as time permits,
in the mean-time, hand-shovelling out 2 foot drifts around the
chalet foundation so we don’t get spring thaw ice-dam flooding...

Weather Notes:

Cool, but not crazy KKkkold,
so bundle up an deal with it...

----------- Supplementary Weather Forecast Data: ------------

It’s going to be quite cool for a while,
but we’re definitely not alone...

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Lets start with this... Average Is Excellent.

Natural speed, glide and lateral grip are all
typically at the highest levels of ease and
effectiveness because cryogenic groomed
snow has very little internal adhesive
properties so the essence of it is simultaneous
low friction and high control input traction.

Fast, easy and forgiving.

--------------------------------------------

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Snowfall that came in far warmer temp’s, at much higher
rates of internal humidity that can make it prone to either
sensations of thickness or heaviness and need focused
energy to move through, can get cryogenically shocked
with the sudden overnight low and that cold typically
renders it far lighter because it literally gets recrystallized.
It's sort of like a Mother Natures freeze-drying process and
we would anticipate that the top most recent 30cm’s that’s
had the exposure is going to be very easy and forgiving across
the entire range of the Mountains Sous Bois group.

That’s not to say it will be easy for everyone, even light, but deep
snow needs more skill and muscle than average so it’s important
to explore responsibly. Unless you’re a well conditioned weekly
skier, you need to mindful of fatigue thresholds that can have
sudden onset if you are not used to sustained high output aerobics.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
