Weather Notes:
In terms of the application of the March historic weather patterns
of either in/out like a lamb/lion, this current season is definitely
an “In Like A Lamb And Out Like A Lion”, where the 10 day long
range forecast profile is the “Out Like A Lion” part that by statistical
comparison, would look a lot like the 30 year average for late February.
--------------- 3.20.26 - Supplementary Weather Data: ----------------
----------------------------------------
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
As the new snow was falling it had a very fluffy, lofty loose
density, together with what we would call a high level of
internal humidity. It was thick and fun, but with a fair
degree of friction that offset gravitational forces. It is
primo “Snowball Snow” and that is the key insight into
what we are forecasting for the excellence we think will
be universal in the freshly groomed today because the
essence is it is quite nearly ideal for “packable” compression
into the integrated trail base.
If there are “recently groomed” portions, they may be prone
to initial thick or choppy tracking, but even there, we think
that traffic will eventually even much of it out as the loft is
reduced by the weight and turn spreading effects of skiers
and boarders continuously passing over.
The turning/cornering performance is very close to peak
mid-winter levels and high carving edge-set angles are
very reliable in the soft banking that is capable of holding
tremendous amounts of lateral/centrifugal energy without
fear of blow-out.
A well conditioned, Expert technical front-side carver can
make turns in this snow that will exceed 1G of lateral force.
A Beginner can make super-easy quick learning progress
as there are virtually zero icy bits in the Green's and shallow
Blue’s, all over a very forgiving soft surface that is simultaneously
grippy but in it’s softness, very forgiving without tripping you
up or hard harshness underfoot.
All things considered after some early March weather volatility,
a fantastic turn of Mother Nature events that Tremblant Mountain
Op’s is taking full advantage of to bring you exceptional late
March groomed conditions.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
All this new snow will absolutely regenerate favourable
conditions, however there are a lot of complex Expert
challenges because the base structure has never been
mechanically levelled in the majority of cases(#) so Sous
Bois trails/zones do not have uniform packed strata to
rely on. Consequently there is almost infinite variability
potentially within/along descent lines that need Expert
experience and instantly adaptable technique to navigate
safely.
Adventure is around every corner, but it wants responsible
explorations with genuine top level bush skills.
(#) See pervious 3/18/26 Sous Bois notes.
