Similar to Yesterday but Cooler @ -38C so you will need to be
very careful out there.

If you are a parent with small children, please be cautious,
some kids will not know when they lose feeling in fingers and
toes, so extreme care is required if you have them out today.

If you want to experience Arctic conditions, this is pretty much
as close as we can get to that.

This is not the coldest it has been though, back in the winter
of ’04 we had one day in January at -42C and with wind chill
it was around -60C or so.

At the time, we skied off the Gondola 2 runs at a time, then
in for a warm up at the top.

The unusual thing about conditions like this is that the way
your skis work changes.

Laws of Physics:

Skis and Boards work with the same laws of physics that
skates on ice do.

Skates, Skis and Boards rely on friction to create a molecular
thin layer of water along the running edge that acts as a
lubricant as we glide over the surface. Even when it is very cold,
and we move quickly, this occurs.

When it gets Super cold, like today however, it becomes too cold
for this friction generated water to be created, so now we have
raw, un-lubricated metal edges against the very cold crystals of
snow which at these temps take on the feel of sand under your
skis and boards.

Without lubrication, the level of friction underfoot goes way up,
so here is where it gets interesting.

With more friction, you can ski down steeper runs and speed
will not build up the way you would expect.

On that day back in '04 when it was a little colder than this we skied Virtage,
and basically, you could face the fall line and ski it like Beauchemin !

We will always try to find the Best skiing at Tremblant in ANY weather,
so while todays conditions are not for everyone, if you have the right gear,
you can do it and you will actually find steeper runs are fun!
