9.11.10 Tour de Lance/24Hr Velo @ Le Circuit
9.11.10 Tour de Lance/24Hr Velo @ Le Circuit
Sept. 11th, 2010 11:30 A.M.
Tour de Lance/24Hr Velo, Cedars Cancer Institute Fundraiser.
The sun is shining brightly as hundreds of riders gather at Le Circuit
in old Mont Tremblant Village to greet the one and only Lance Armstrong.
You can feel the excitement in the crowd as the announcer informs us that
Lance has just set out from the Resort and will be here in a few minutes.
How often can you get this close to a global icon? Not often, and here is an
opportunity to get really close. Le Circuit is just about perfect for this event.
There isn't a bad seat in the house and as Lance rides in, the crowd erupts
into enthusiastic cheers and clapping as he makes his way to the podium.
Introduced by world famous Tour de France broadcaster, Phil Ligget, Lance
settles quickly into a serious address on the importance of the global effort
to eradicate cancer through research that can only be carried out through
massive, co-ordinated fundraising.
Preceding Lance, the podium was graced by the Tremblant 24Hr Velo
Ambassadors: Lyne Bessette, Louis Bertrand, Bruno Pelletier and Jasey-Jay
Anderson. The events producer, Simon St-Arnaud was up on stage too.
The ceremonies were short and immediately afterward, Lance led off the
inaugural lap of both the Tour de Lance and the 24Hr Velo fundraisers.
They're out there riding around as I write this now(5:00pm)
and they'll be there 'till noon tomorrow...
Lance is right, Cancer can be beaten, and as he says, it will
take a Global effort.
We can all help.... goto:
