88(*) Open Trails at Tremblant.

Almost As Bright As The Sun....
We love the sense of Style and Super Bright Colours of Fun
we see at Tremblant every day. Skiing, and now Snowboarding too,
have always been on the forefront of Fun, Functional Fashion!

Yesterday's forecast looked a lot like today's, including the rain,
that never happened, and we're hoping for a repeat on all accounts.

"They"... say it could get up to +8C, that's just a wee bit over 46 degrees F.,
for all our new Florida readers out there today(see yesterday's posting), so
by any standards that include "Snow"... it's gunna be another warm one.

We actually like plain old "Overcast" when the daytime highs reach so far
up. More Thermal Energy is not what keeps Snow coverage, so if we had
to choose between 1) Mega-Sunny and reducing Open Trails and 2) Overcast
and fewer Trail closings, you can probably guess were we would be.

Regardless of the source of Thermal energy... Spring is well under way
and you can see the results in the pic. below as this Skier applies all the
necessary power to hang on to a carved turn on Expo's main pitch. This
demonstration of expert skills takes lots of muscle and finesse to maintain
consistently on a run of this steepness, non-the-less, the soft snow makes
these great days for exactly this high energy technique.

While the Pic. is far from perfect, another one of those spontaneous
telephoto's off a moving often bouncy Chair Lift as they ride over the
towers, it tells the Tremblant performance story perfectly well for this date.

Below:
Here's another "Bad Photography", way far away from perfect, but perfectly
able to make the point, picture...

Normally we'd just trash this image, but the way the Ski is displacing
the top of the soft mogul holds a meaningful key for those who might
want to explore new skills. Mogul Skiing in Soft snow like this is a great
chance to learn when the conditions are very forgiving. If this was Cold
Mid-Winter the Mogul being shredded above would be far more solid.

By comparison, Skiing these soft surfaces now to learn new skills, is easy.

Concluding our Mini-Review of Expo as an example of the very fine Expert
Spring Snow conditions at Tremblant. Here below is a "Big Picture" view
of what we've looked at above. While the sort-of messy look to the snow
may be intimidating to many, the softness, the increased friction or resistance
as well as the steepness to help keep you moving, all combine to make this a
fine time to try stepping up those skills a notch. If you control speed and take
your time finishing every turn completely, it can be both thrilling and rewarding
to accomplish new challenges.

It is our opinion that this March is going to stand up very well in the
History of Tremblant March's for the completeness of the Open Terrain.

We must say for those that may look at this record in the future, since the
development of recent Snowmaking and Grooming technologies used at
Tremblant over the past 5 years or so, the quality of the open terrain,
has always been outstanding.

The bonus difference we feel at this point now, is how much we have due
to the bountiful Snow generosity, and the cooler, more winter-favourable
temperatures of Mother Nature has blessed us with for this specific March.

What that really means to all Alpine Winter Snow Sport Fans right now is...

Get out there now and enjoy this opportunity to not only Ski/Board
Tremblant's annually great Spring Conditions, but to enjoy more of
them.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
