Too Good To Be True ???
Pristine Tremblant Morning Corduroy awaits...
Are we foolish to dream...???... never...
Too Good To Be True???
Could we see a repeat of last seasons excellent, Top-To-Bottom,
record setting available terrain this Opening Day, November 22nd, 2013??
The signs surely do look very positive for that as we, along with all
the other Tremblant Fans we know, eagerly await the final countdown
to Opening Day that is only a week away from this posting.
(please note: there are date/time-shifts in this posting
as included in pic.file.data and support text.)
Below: A series of 3 Web Cam Snap Shots from
Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 showing Snowmaking
at the South Resort Base, Johannsen.
The first here, looking straight up the middle of the run.
The second in the series looks diagonally from the base of the Flying Mile
over to the base of the Gondola and up to the top plateau of Johannsen.
The third one is a zoom-in of the second looking at the snowmaking
cloud generated up at the summit on the South Side. You see that here
as the very dark snowcloud patch at the top, right hand side of the frame.
You can also see the close to last Snowmaking gun on Beauvallon Bas(lower),
so we think the descent path from the Summit to the Gondola base is complete.
In our opinion, based on many seasons of observation, when the
Tremblant Mountain Operations Group has invested this much time
and manpower in the early deployment of Snowmaking to this extent,
it is because their weather models/forecasts support the retention
of the blown snow to an advantage in the opening of the terrain
it covers, in the near term, i.e. "Opening Day", in this case.
The next two below are taken at the Summit and they both face the
extreme sides of the Web Cam's range of motion over first, the
Lowell Thomas Sector....
And secondly, over the Duncan Sector.
At the particular time the two above were taken, the South facing
Web Cam view was obscured by a snowy covering. We have another
time slot showing the South view to be added shortly.
This shot below is the real surprise though, because there are not
many pre-season days this close to opening that show this kind
of accumulation at the North Base.
(Please Note: Detached Quad Chairs from main cable
laid out in two lines to left of Lift Base. Referenced Below.)
Whether or not the all natural snow here will "stick" is yet to be realized,
but at the very least it shows a wonderful advance of seasonal conditions
and an overall sub-zero ground temp that can support retained snow.
That's a huge bonus no matter what, opening the North will be easier
with the ground well saturated if it does not stay snow and if it does
stay as snow it could be one of the best North Side openings ever.
Moving back in time to Monday, Nov. 11th....
...to the last clear view we have of the South Summit Sector, here
is one of our whacky stitched, composite view panorama panels...
Here's a little reminder of Last Years Opening Day and
we're looking forward to the possibility of this year's
being just as good, and just as much fun!
More Following....
