A nice Brisk -32 C, RISING FAIRLY QUICKLY... to -18C
by after lunch-time. If there's anything easy, it's the
forecasted no wind to start and very low Easterly's that
may develop.

choosing from in about three minutes, just as soon as
you safely get off the Duncan Quad and turn to follow
this descent path below the Chair you're riding on now.
The magnificent Vistas that can be seen today are the essence of Winter.

Devils River, Versant Nord, The North Side.
Every New Season involves strategic planning for Trail Openings
that may take into account the way Mother Nature has blessed
one sector over another, so it's not unusual to see a different
order in Openings from year to year. Additionally, how the Trail is
Opened can be different too, and Devils River, a very popular
North Side Trail, is a prime example. Two or Three Seasons ago,
Devils River was Opened Au Natural. There were Snowmaking
Big Bumps on it, and a lot of fresh snow too, but it was left
un-groomed for quite some time at it's opening. We received
Feedback in this forum from Mountain Users who where somewhat
frustrated with that condition and we did an in-depth look at it then
that discovered in that season, as a result of survey's Tremblant did,
there was a preference for it as an Experts Only, Un-Groomed Trail.
There are many that like that challenge.
This season, Devils river has been Opened Fully Groomed...
and it is about as wide and Smooth as an Inter-State Highway!

there are still some larger chunky bits from the Groomer Crews initial
Surface rendering, but it is completely carve-able from top to bottom,
and it will respond beautifully to each new days Traffic and Grooming,
not to mention more snow, for the rest of the season.
The individually different preferences of all Tremblant fans obviously can
not be realized at the same time. Expert Powder Hounds are not going to
vote for Grooming, and High Speed Carving Freaks are not going to vote
for Au Natural. Tremblant offers Terrain for both, however the presentation
does vary from season to season which adds to the fun of exploring and
building good skills.
Take a good look through the Open Trail Inventory below and we're sure
you will find a lot to choose from that matches your tastes.
Crop Rotation, or in the case of a Ski Resort, Snowmaking Rotation...
is going on at a rapid pace at Tremblant. Much of the Summit
SnowCloud yesterday, was from Snowmaking on Upper McCulloch
as you can see here, below.

Today McCulloch shows Open and Groomed, so it should be
exactly as Fine, Fast and Smooth as other recent Groomed Openings.
Very High Performance:
We spend a lot of time talking about "Grip", "Lateral Edge Set/Control"
"Carving" forces and how all those things relate to the surfaces
in terms of "Capability", i.e., does the surface have the capability
to "Hold" the "Set Edge" against the centrifugal force that is
trying to push the Skier/Boarder outward.
In terms of "Surface Capability" for High Performance Carving at
Tremblant, we think this one pic sums it up quite well....

Groomed Open Trail List, Attached Herein.
We have recently referred to it as "Stand on it Sideways" Capability and that's
just about what the Skier above is doing.
The thrill of this level of personal performance is within the reach of
more Skiers/Boarders than they think is possible themselves.
All it takes is basic, well tuned equipment that does not have to
be expensive either. Local Ski Patrol Ski-Swap fundraisers, for
example, are full of inexpensive, great quality gear that can and
will perform Exactly as you see above.
