T360 Apres Ski Intro @ 8:30 P.M.

First day in 5 with no Snowmaking Cloud, but when you look closely,
lots going on anyway.

Let’s take a peek at Flying Mile and Johannsen where the really big
story is. The Pic may be a wee bit fuzzy, however there was a lot of
“Atmosphere” , i.e., an almost haziness in the air. We were able to burn
through it with highlights and definition, but it was a hand held Telephoto,
and the initial focus point was the Top of Flying Mile, so there’s only so
much you can dial up in the rest of it.

The Big Features on Johannsen look HUGE!
…And Promenade has some big bumps too!

We actually had someone parked beside us North, who suggested “Don’t
go South, things are bad there. We immediately set out for Soleil because
it had an icy bottom chunk at the bottom there for a couple recent days,
and we thought that may have come back, however today we found
Toboggan arguably the best it’s been, from Top to Bottom in say, 5 seasons???
Very Fine Anyway, Very Fine!

Tomorrow, we’ll get over to the rest of the South and see what it’s
like, but we suspect that there will be a TON of Grooming tonight
for the anticipated Weekenders, so... if it wasn’t already perfect today,
we think it will be tomorrow.

Number of Open Runs Tomorrow ??? Not sure, for sure, but maybe mid
to upper 80’s ??? It would be really nice if 95/95 were Open, but we still
may be a wee ways off of that yet.

Weather Tomorrow At Tremblant…

Up to Daytime High @ -7 C with Snow/Overcast…

Super Easy after this Cool week!

---------------- 8:37 A.M. Orig. Post --------------------

78(*) Open Trails on the f,f,f,f,Frosty 4 Sides of Tremblant.

According to The Weather Network, this will be the final
day of this run of Kool, and 24 hours from now things will feel more
normal as temps rise up to Saturday Afternoons projected high of -7 C.

So, for the moment, it is what it is… very cold outside today.
No doubt, below average seasonal values for this date, however,
we must also point out with equal or greater emphasis…

The Skiing/Boarding Are Exceptionally Fine And Very Fast.

The Only Snow Surface Difference From Last Run above, will be the fine
Corduroy Today starts out with.

Furthermore, with the limited attendance of Mid-week, these impeccably
smooth surfaces have All-Day Durability and at Last Run yesterday our
final descent was 98% of what First Tracks would have been.

We don’t know how else to say it, but if you can prepare for the Kool,
or Cope with the Kool by taking frequent inside breaks, using “Hot Shots”
or similar types of Hand-Warmers, or any other mode of adapting, your
reward will some of the most thrilling Skiing/Boarding on Fast, Groomed
surfaces recent memory can recall.

If you cruise at slower speeds, the Snow is capable of decent control
even if your gear is un-tuned or edges worn, BUT….

Fresh, Recent(in terms of use) Tuned Edges are required for any level
of higher speed or turning performance.

The surfaces are so fast that in order to control turning force at speed,
you need maximum grip to offset the centrifugal force your body weight
will make.

And… On top of that… Fresh Sharp Edges need less “Angle of Attack” or
“Tilt” in order to maintain Grip, so there is less need to angulate Skis/Board
to an extreme degree to compensate for dull edges and at the same time,
they give you a greater range of control angulation for sustained very high
performance when you need it.

Tuned Gear is a “Win, Win” situation in these conditions.

If you have not had a Tune-Up recently… YOU NEED TO GOTO
Le Ski Shoppe located at the Base of the Cabriolet, South Side.
The Tech’s here are absolutely brilliant at what they do and they
have a “No-Brainer” overnight Tune-Up Special Pricing that is
a BARGAIN !!!!

They use some of the finest CNC type Controlled Automated
Machines in the World that produce razor sharp results with
minimal impact on edge durability because of their precise
Micrometer settings that are very easy on your gear.

ALWAYS KEEP SPEED WITHIN COMPLETE EDGE CONTROL.
ALWAYS/CONTINUOUSLY TEST EDGE CONTROL BEFORE ADDING SPEED

Snowmaking continues at Tremblant and while the bulk of it
is on the South(see “*” icons on list below for exact locations),
Vanier and the adjacent portion of Duncan on the North are
getting some as well.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
