T360 Prime Time Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 9:09 P.M.
We was right on some stuff, and we was wrong on other stuff,
but when we was wrong, we was wrong for the right reasons...
1.26.23.Summit.Info.Board.Annotated.Minus.8.C.Read.d.jpg
We was wrong about our expectations of carrying yesterdays speed
forward today. It was not as fast as we thought because there was
more new snowfall than anticipated and the sheer volume of it with
traffic turning patterns became a choppy, lumpy and had somewhat
unpredictable thickness. Some moguls bounced you up and some
sucked your ski tips under and you could not tell the difference on
many approaches. We was totally right on drifting, we found Sous Bois
contour ridges of over 40 cm’s... fresh ones... all day.
Bottom line: “Too much snow” was exactly the right reason to be wrong.
Below:
Major Duncan Haut/Upper width and coverage expansion.
We love what they’ve done with widening the Duncan Summit
crest/pitch over the past seasons and it looks like it may be back
this year as well. Time will tell, but regardless, more snow here
now will pay back in spring in any event.

There were clear periods especially below the Summit
however there was more than enough snow over the
whole Mountain to keep things soft. Even on the widest
and most gentle of slopes were there were moguls, just
little ones.
1.26.23.Soleil.Algonquin.Haut.Upper.Plateau.POV.Up.d.jpg
There were fresh powder lines with drifted contour ridges of
well over 40 cm’s in the Edge and Lowell Thomas Sous Bois, all day.
For sure, by the end of the day you had to range out further to
find them, but they were still there...

Conditions favoured Experts, but it was a genuine Winter Workout
for everyone, the thickness was simply evident everywhere.
P’tit Bonheur had little moguls, even Nansen Haut/Upper had
some washboard.... very unusual...
Tomorrow should see a substantial grooming refinement
in surface density and mogul resistance, unless it snows
a ton more tonight, in which case it could take a couple
days to compact more effectively. It may take another
day anyway, the new stuff today was very very soft, dry,
and high volume fluffy.

The Return Of The Speed.
1.25.23.Soleil.Algonquin.Return.Of.The.Speed.d.jpg
19 cm’s of Official fresh new snowfall in the past 48 hours
with 4 primary features that can benefit way beyond just the numbers:
1) Cryogenic freeze-dry. The deep -21 C cool of
yesterday morning rendered out the internal humidity
of the first batch of new snow that had a touch of friction
in it due to the close proximity of zero C it fell in.
Consequently, conditions are now very naturally fast.
2) The drifting factor. All the new snow has come,
and is still falling right now, on a Mother Nature
delivery system of moderate to vigorous wind velocity
which has and is generated unique drifting advantage
in the form of actual Mountain contour deposit totals
above the overall stat total, all within the open terrain.
3) Potential orographic precip. effect where elevation
can cause additional snowfall beyond ground level
stat’s due to relatively warm humid air masses being
forced up the ramp-like shape of the Mountain into
cooler atmospheric conditions above the Summit.
4) All of the above, at once, which would pretty much
be the definition of synergistic potential.
The Very Best Way To Get On Top
Of This Situation...

Weather Notes:
----------- Supplementary Weather Data And Continental Co-Factors ----------------
Conditions Notes:
We think that due to the combination of a mid-week, work
and school day common lighter attendance that today may
have, plus all the unique weather and snowfall factors, that
for the very fortunate group of Tremblant Fans out it could
maybe, possibly, just might be... a seasonal highlight day of
universal excellence across all skill levels and across all types
of open terrain.
What that means is that if at all possible... YOU should be here.
Please Note: There are significant snowmaking operations
going on that we think are strategic supplements to
enhance specific zones that can be critical to spring
coverage and retained useful access. Beauvallon Haut/Upper,
and Nansen Bas/Lower are 2 prime examples that in seasons
past have shown where additional reserves may make huge
and critical differences in Spring durability and square area
utility. We completely support all proactive reserve production
and we are very glad to see these efforts now.
An additional consideration is that for those planning any
potential late season Ski Holiday getaway’s, this is exactly
the kind of work you want to see now as insurance for
future quality and the consequent confidence for advance
booking.
