Reader Utility Notice:

Please Note: we have experiencing technical issues with file upload
function on the Forum platform since the start of this season.
The result is that the old format which is now 12 years of age is
going to be upgraded as it is no longer practically supported by
Hosting entities. This means migrating the entire Tremblant360
forum content to a new phpBB style/template which will be modified
wherever possible in order to keep a similar/familiar layout for continuity.

These changes are scheduled for execution during the course of the day,
today, so reporting may be limited for the next day or two as we sort things
out. Thanks for your patience.

Weather Notes:

We actually have seen real, genuine Sunshine this morning!
There is intermittent snow-fog, as well as variable light overcast,
so it’s not quite a “Blue Sky” day yet, but maybe later?

By the standards of a mild-to-warm Fall season so-far,
it’s a cool one out there today, the coolest morning we’ve
had up to this point at -16C at the Versant Sud/South side
Resort Base level.

The temps are supposed to go up by 3 degrees C, but with a
brisk N/W wind coming up Beauvallon, that small rise will not
seem like much with todays wind chill values. It’ a cool one...

Conditions Notes:

The Skiing is very much winter with several recent, small
additions of natural snow over the now very firm base.
There were icy tendencies as one might expect with
temps that went from +3C , down to -8C, but Mountain
Crews were very successful with grooming operations and
effectively blending the new snow in for a final product
that had adequate soft, loose, granular snow layers and
very good performance on an overall basis.

If you refer to our Apres Ski in yesterday’s post you will
get a pretty good idea of what things are going to be like
today as the cool weather profile has been carried over
with the even cooler drop in temps.

If anything, we would expect the overall evenness of top
trail surface layers to be more evenly refined with another
night of grooming, and as we noted yesterday, they were
good to begin with.

No doubt, after any warm-to-cold thermal transition, there
can be either wind or traffic exposed icy bits where front-facing
exposures can occur, or where trails converge into narrower
confines or at intersections where there can be concentrations
of wear factors . Arriving with well tuned edges is essential for
optimized safety and performance.

From a practical utility standpoint, vision has been a bit of a
challenge with the snowmaking cloud that you are periodically
exposed to as you either ride up lifts or descend within proximity
to active snowmaking zones.

That may be less of a problem today as what we usually find is that
the cooler it is, the more dry the snowmaking output seems to be.
Typically, at these chilly temp. values the airborne snowmaking
particulate is way less sticky in terms of the way it can effect goggles.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
