T360 Late Evening Apres Ski Edit Under Construction at 10:57 P.M.

A very short summary Apres Ski(more in the morning),
but the main point is:

A foggy day with fabulous skiing. Period.

No matter the foggy, spectacular groomed conditions virtually everywhere.
We would say the theories we had for “Best OF Season So Far” could be very
persuasively made for today. Wonderful, fast, and fun.

Below:
Here is a trail-side, close-up sample of the new snowfall. Its makeup in
this location is a predominantly a large fluffy flake that is still remarkably
dry considering the mild sub-zero C temp., but in addition to its lightness,
it is very low friction, so there is great glide just about everywhere it's groomed.
The snow fell in slightly different flake forms over the 4 corners of the Mountain,
but the fast, low friction performance was very similar everywhere.

For Tomorrow:

More Snow, Continuing Mild Temp’s, Very Close To Today,

GREAT!!!

Things were a wee bit “Thick” in places as the snow just kept on falling
throughout the course of the day.

Here below are 2 examples that clearly illustrate the additional challenge
of rapid and fairly deep new snowfall that also had wind-drifted deeper zones.

Example # 1:
The first is the new opening of Versant Nord/North Side Sissy Schuss, a 1948
masterpiece of brilliant trail design that has been widened to new spec’s.
Groomed today, this has a very high probability of being near perfect.

Example # 2:
The second example here is Versant Soleil’s new opening of Toboggan.
We like to call this trail “Mother Natures Roller Coaster” because it has
the most natural topographical series of near-perfect dips, dives, curves
and banks to render out a thrilling variety of fabulous contours that
under ideal conditions can get you consecutive, running, “Zero Gravity”
moments as you crest the ridges along its meandering descent line.
Groomed today, this has a very high probability of being near perfect.

The abundance and wind-shaped drifting of the new snowfall definitely
favoured Expert Skill Levels, however the benefits will extend across the
entire range as Mountain Crews integrate the new with the existing base
in the grooming process for todays finished production.

Our observations over the years are that the amount, i.e., depth of new
snowfall that can be integrated to an optimized level in one single night-shift
is up to 10 cm’s. We Officially got 10 cm’s, so you may logically conclude we
expect some very fine results for the groomed icon list in the Official PDF
trail status doc. below.

Weather Notes:

For today, there is a relatively big jump in the single hour between
11:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon when the temps could rise by 4 C.
If the simultaneous change indicated for going from sunny to
overcast occurs, then at typical cooler by -4C temps up on the
slopes, we don’t see any significant impact other than where ever
the absolute temp exceeds Zero C, snowmaking does not happen.
Correspondently, there are no snowmaking icons in the Official
trail status data, so it could be an unaffected vision day with a
nice morning Blue Sky start.

Conditions Notes:

In the moment of all the freshly falling snow, yesterdays conditions
favoured Expert skills, but there were still some exceptionally fine
Beginner trails, the best examples being Nansen and P’tit Bonheur.
We had a “Last Run” descent on P’tit Bonheur/Beauchemin Bas/Lower
where the whole run was close to perfect which is a great summary
for “At The End Of The Day”.

It is our common observation that as temps rise, conditions typically
seem to get better in terms of traction and forgiveness, which generally
makes all things seem easier for all Skill Levels. With 10 cm’s of fresh
snow groomed in, a near-ideal amount for a single groomed addition,
all the theories we had for yesterdays possible “Best Of” potential may
be transferable to today?

We’ll get back to you on that.

A review of the “Groomed” icons in the Official PDF below shows
an impressive list with an excellent range across all Skill Levels,
so it should be a prime example of “Something for everyone” out
there on the very fine Pre-Christmas slopes of Tremblant today.

We’ll get back to you on that.

Gliding up through the silence of a magically white winter snowfall
finds yourself absorbed in the natural beauty of the surroundings
and in that instant you realize that in a crazy world of weird virus
and stressful human current events, being at Tremblant right now
makes you one of the luckiest people on the planet. We hope you
can find yourself here too.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
