Almost A Blizzard!

Practically speaking, yesterday was a horrible day for photography...
but an excellent day for skiing!

Snowfall so thick and intense that keeping lens clean
for more than a second was not possible...

At an Official 22cm’s of overnight new, fresh, snowfall, this is certainly
one of the high-points of seasonal natural accumulations.

Seasonal Data Point/Marker:
It should be noted that in terms of high-points of seasonal
accumulations, yesterday marked the first day of the snowfall
total exceeding 300cm’s and we are now up over 320cm’s
overnight, so this is a very big data point for at least 2 reasons.

Another way to look at it as a significant seasonal marker is that we
have received 10% of this winters so-far total, in 72 hours. That’s big.

Weather Notes:

Fully back to really winter range temps, and with the wind-chill,
fully back to the feel of real winter too.

Conditions Notes:

It is vitally important to realistically match your actual skills within the
Green/Beginner, Blue/Intermediate, Black/Expert challenge rated terrain today
as large sudden snow depths take extra time to groom to ideal compaction
and there are tendencies towards soft surface tracking and mogul formations
that need more technical skills and muscle to navigate and sustain efforts.

----------- 9:30 A.M. Insert Update: -----------------

We are getting field reporting feedback early this morning that the snow is
thick, heavy and requires substantial effort to navigate. This is absolutely
consistent with our notice above regarding the uncompressed softness in
the top layers that is prone to tracking and mogul formations. In some
cases trails labelled as groomed must have been done before the bulk
of overnight snow fell because they have very deep, thick surfaces that
are becoming hazardous as they get heavily tracked up. Be very careful.
An injury now could take out the rest of your season, so caution is well
advised in these circumstances.

Tremblant Guest Utility Notice:

Extreme Weather Generates Unusual Conditions That May
Exceed Posted Rating Challenge.

Consult With Tremblant Info. Ski Crews For Guidance.

This is an actual “Last Run” picture of the Summit Info. Ski Crews on hand during
one of the intense portions of snowfall, so there are some “unique” snow-filters
and snow-smeared lens effects. These are conditions that reduce visibility and
add surface challenges so all Guests that are new to Tremblant, or unsure about
matching skills to actual conditions can benefit from a consult with any of these
knowledgable team members.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
