Here’s a glimpse of the days highlights:

Tomorrow: A bit more complex scenario due to a warmer,
above Zero C overnight. Softness will probably be a factor
from first tracks and we may see some evolving traffic
generated mogul formations if the heat begins to work
into any of the base depth. There’s still good supporting
frost underneath, so it remains to be seen how far the
warm works in.

Very Much, Full-On, Froze Overnight,

Conditions Notes:

The Three Most Important Functional Things You Need
For These Daily Spring Temp Cycles:

1) Layered/Vented Outer Garments.

2) Recent Sharp Edge Tuning.

3) “Warm” Temp Range Base Wax/Coating.

Re: 1) If you don’t have the ability to modulate your warmth for
the morning and your cool for the afternoon, you’ll be either
too cold or too hot for all but a couple of hours at some point
when whatever you have on is right for a brief period.

What we think is one of the most important features of any jacket
worth taking to a Ski Resort are zippered torso vents. Even if you
have too much insulation, being able to completely open the vents
that typically extend from the mid-torso to mid-upper arm, will
allow sufficient air circulation to facilitate cooling while in motion.

Re: 2) If you’re arriving for first tracks after a day of +15 C,
then an overnight down to -7C without sharp edges, you’re “Nuts”.
If you are arriving at noon for the warm bit, it don’t matter at all.

Re: 3) If you’re skiing/boarding anytime it’s warm enough to generate
some surface thaw, the potential for speed reduction exists and the
only way to compensate for that is to wax or coat bases with a moisture
repellant material. This is a less certain need because not all wet snow
causes drag. Some wet snow is rocket-fast, some wet snow feels like velcro.
You take your chances on this one, but we coat bases anyway, just because
drag is a “drag”, so-to-speak. However, there would be those who would
argue, including ourselves some days, that a bit of natural drag makes
steeper challenges easier with a bit of automatic speed control.

All three of these items will be important at some time during today,
and any other day like this one, so if you are making plans, optimizing
your day can be realized by integrating these strategies.

---------------- 9:20 A.M. Insert Update: ---------------------

We would have one correction to the early Open List which is
versant Sud/South Side Trail # 24, Ryan, showing open, however,
it is not currently available.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
