T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit @ 12:23 A.M.

Two Very Important Positive Items For Tomorrows Conditions:

1) Return Of Sub-Zero C To Stabilize Base Quality.

2) Edge Sector Grooming(?)

Otherwise, for tomorrow:
Sunny with -1 C Sud/South Base for Open,
temp's rising to +7 C by 15:00Hrs/3:00 P.M.

A Seasonal “Watershed” Moment... Literally.

“Watershed” is defined in 2 forms that are directly applicable to today,
one being metaphorical the other one being physical.

Below:

These are not fancy Ski/Board action shots, but they do illustrate the evolution
of the current Spring dynamic in both the figurative and literal sense of “Watershed”.

The fact is that when Mother Nature decides to flip the seasonal switch, from
“Cold” to “Hot”, changes can become very significant in a very short time span.

From the metaphorical side of Watershed meanings signifying “Big Changes”
in things, 16 days ago we had full winter and 102/102 Open trails, on 3.21, we
had 98/102 Open trails, so obviously with the current reduction in just 4 days
to 56 Open trails, we have indeed reached a watershed moment in available
skiable terrain as well.

If you look at the annual stat’s, we’ve become a bit spoiled with 6 of the past 8
winters being exceptional natural snowfall seasons of considerably greater than
average accumulations, but in this statement is the exact explantation, in the meaning
of “Average”. Average means the middle position of a series of high and low metric
values. We can’t have “Average” without highs and lows... so we are where we are
and what we have to be so very grateful for is the wonderful season we’ve had
despite some really weird things like a Global Covid-19 Pandemic, and the
low-snow year. It’s not over yet either, while this recent sequence of warm wet
weather has had its effects, many of the main, very well compacted groomed
trails are surviving reasonably well with the still solid, still frosted base support
underneath. There is also a forecast cool/snow cycle in the long range outlook
so we could still see future, positive changes.

Here’s a fond memory from Last Run yesterday that is also proof that
not everything was mushy/slushy or altogether too soft.

It is important to note above that with the use of appropriate base wax/coating
for enhanced friction elimination, using a very safe low speed SL carving technique,
we can get just enough rebound from each turn to get air under the skis on the
traverses you can see above on the mid-pitch turns where the ski tracks disappear
between the alternating left/right “S’s”. Absolute proof that if you want, there’s a
Quad Muscle workout, just about anywhere and everywhere!

Weather Notes:

Arguably two of the best parts of the hourly forecast are
the late evening snowfall potential and to support everything,
the possibility of a good sub-zero c reset at Mountain
Elevations that might see -3/-4C ?

The weather is not ideal, so, that begs the question...

Conditions Notes:

Warm, wet with highly variable rates of friction and
depths of softness.

As always, Tremblant Mountain Crews set the trail default to
“Smooth”, so whatever else is out there, “Smooth” is a reliable
basis for coping.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
