11/27/21 #Tremblant Conditions

6(*) Open Trails on Sud/South and Nord/North Ski-Out To Base, at #Tremblant.

It’s an all important day at the Mountain as the first Summit-To-Base
capability now exists on Versant Nord/North Side with the opening
of Beauchemin Bas/Lower, down to the Nord/North base.

This is excellent news. The obvious, ultimate, levels of practicality
are achieved with ski-outs to base levels, so we’re half-way there
with the Nord/North now, and the promise is that the Sud/South to
the Resort Base should be here next week.

T360 fully operational function has been affected by both
connectivity and Covid-19 related logistical issues, and we
are glad to report that we seem to have the connectivity
side sorted out. Next come the logistical adaptations, so we
hope to be able to sort those out today in order to enable
field reporting with our own photography either by Apres Ski
today or tomorrow.

Weather Notes:

The consensus of weather forecasting in the pre-season
called for an early start for winter and at this stage, it seems
relatively apparent that is exactly what is happening.

The overnight low temperature at the Summit was -18 C at
about 3:00 AM, and to us, that’s very much winter. A look
at the overnight lows projected for Sud/South base levels
could be expected to be roughly -4 C cooler at Mountain
elevations and those numbers would be very much winter
as well.

This long range outlook could only be taken as great news
for the potential of snowmaking and natural snow for the
foreseeable future, not to mention the very early frost
projection deeper into the mass of the Mountain which is
added insurance for total seasonal conditions durability
and quality retention.

Conditions Notes:

Depending on your point of view priorities, there are(at least)
two almost equally important beneficial aspects for the Versant
Nord/North Side, Summit-To-Base Opening today.

The first is:

Exponential increase in Mountain utility any day that provides
ski-out to base level. All the “Locals”/“Regionals” who drive
to the Mountain will be thrilled and we would expect to see
a very healthy parking attendance at the Nord/North base today.

The second is:

9 cm’s of fresh snowfall within the opening sequence of days
is a vitally important component of the establishment of both
the existing trail base and the acceleration of new terrain
development.

We have identified the 10 cm mark as the amount of snow that
can be completely integrated into the base by grooming after one
snowfall event. Anything much more than that can take multiple
grooming shifts to totally work in for optimized density, so that
means there can be lingering thick bits on the first day.

The reason we talk about that is because of the very windy
delivery conditions of this new snowfall. Our “10 cm’s” theory
is under zero wind speed, where snowfall is evenly distributed.
This was not the case over this recent event, so wind-shaped
drifting may have, most likely has, created variable depths of
snowfall deposit. Consequently, where there are greater depths
over the 10cm’s threshold, there may be mogul formations
becoming apparent over the course of the day.

Regardless, tomorrow should see completely rendered grooming
with all day durability due to the higher level of compaction attained
overall, with the second pass.

As An Additional Bonus...

We are very happy to see the Snowmaking Icons activated on
the Official Trail Status document below for at least two reasons:

#1) At the beginning of any season, the snowmaking icons
are a key insight that indicate the upcoming trail openings.

#2) Nansen Haut/Upper. Of all the open Sud/South terrain,
Nansen is arguably one of the most critical because it provides
the primary descent path for Beginners. Together with P’tit Bonheur
these two trails are some of the very finest Beginner terrain in
all of Eastern North America. They are hallmarks of the Tremblant
experience for all skill levels, Experts and Intermediates both enjoy
and rely on them as easy environments for relaxed cruising or
practicing finesse.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
