T360 Apres Ski Edit Under Construct At 10:27 P.M.

Quicky Apres Ski to summarize a really, really fine(for November 28),
early winter day that was also really busy within the limited open
terrain.

There was good skiing all day, but the combination of recent weather
and busy traffic did eventually generate moguls and icy bits on
P’tit Bonheur. There were some other icy bits spread around, but
with responsible speed, they were easy to navigate either over or
around because of the overall level of smoothness. What ended up
happening was Beauvallon/Alpine did not come on line until noon,
so the entire attendance was using Versant Nord/North til then.

A lot of the traffic was cycling on the Lowell Thomas Quad, so that’s
why P’tit Bonheur grew the bumps, Beauchemin Bas/Lower actually
stayed quite smooth for the entire day although there were some
slick zones in the more heavily traversed trail centre pitches. If you
had tuned gear, no problem, if you could stay on the soft trail edge
sides, there were good lines, especially on the left descending side.

It was a typical first weekend with a lot of enthusiastic, dedicated
Tremblant fans and for the most part, there was well demonstrated
respect for different skill levels.

Of course as soon as Beauvallon/Alpine opened up, problem solved.
Additionally, the crowd thinned out fairly rapidly after about 1:45.
The usual Sunday afternoon race back to “Theirville” to feed the dog,
get the kids ready for school, and generally get ready for the work-week.

There was a fair lineup to download on the Gondola but that
should all get sorted out with the opening of Beauvallon Bas/Lower
this week. Absolutely great also to see very active snowmaking
on Nansen.

Mountain Crews certainly have their work cut out to chew up
the bumps and icy bits for tonights grooming night-shift, but
we think they will be able to deliver if for no other reason than
there are literally only a handful of trails to cover.

Major Snowmaking Going On At Tremblant, Right Now!

-15 C at the Sud/South Resort Base level, -18 C at the Summit...

Just about perfect conditions for optimized snowmaking quality
as “cool” seems to increase what we would call the “Dry” properties
of the crystalline output from the snowguns.

The view above is shot from the Old Village of Mont Tremblant, adjacent
to the Resort, and facing Versant Sud/South Side. The snowmaking
cloud is largely the effort to increase coverage on the lower portions
of the Beauvallon Bas/Lower to Johannsen descent path down to the
Gondola base for the basic functional utility of Ski-out to Sud/South
base promised for this upcoming week.

The snowmaking cloud visible on screen left, about half way up the
frame, and behind the Flying Mile peak, is the coverage being developed
on Nansen and Mi Chemin, leading laterally over to the TGV Quad Base.

The three trails visible at the Summit level are, from left to right,
“Erik Guay”, “Zig-Zag”, and “Vertige”.

Mother Nature is also “Working On It”...

Remarkable for any 11/28...

There is not one speck of blown snow in this picture.

As A Segway Into Our Weather Notes For Today:

Another very cool aspect of the picture above is the very deep blue
sky appearance of late November when the Earth’s axis tilt is headed
for the maximum degree away from the sun in the Northern Hemisphere.
It almost seems like you are closer to space, or perhaps the same kind
of very deep blue you see in the sky when flying at high altitude.
In many seasons, late fall weather does not always have a lot of blue
sky days. It often seems as though fog, cloud and all manner of precip.
run for days or weeks on end, so having cloud-free blue sky is a real
treat anytime for the shorter span of daylight winter day hours.
Thanks for that Mother Nature!

Weather Notes:

Fabulous early season, genuine “Winter” day.

The real value here is 2 parts. First, the cool weather
allows maximum snowmaking output. Second, no matter
what kind of weather follows, and we do expect the odd
future warm bits to potentially occur, an early and deep
frost into the conical mass of the Mountain makes it
amazingly resilient. This is one of the very best foundational
components for any developing season.

Conditions Notes:

Very “Cool” Skiing!!!

Part of every skiers seasonal adaptation is climatization. A month ago
people still were playing golf, so every season requires an initial period
of adjustment to once again get used to winter range temperatures.

For today...

You can see it in the air, and you can certainly feel it in your bones...

Most importantly, you can feel it underfoot as this one below captures
the light, dry and fine snow surface characteristics of the newly opened
and very smooth Ski-Out to the Versant Nord/North Side base via
Beauchemin Bas/Lower.

Even though the terrain development is early season limited,
what is open is very fine and with increasing quality and scope
happening continuously over the near-term, it’s fantastic to
be able to ski again. It was a long Covid Summer, and being
out on the slopes is truly liberating.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
