The “Beauty" is obvious, but the “Beast"... ???
Not quite so obvious, however...

At -30 C, It’s Another Beastly Cool One...

And this “Beast” has some Bite!

If it’s your first experience with cold, watch out.
You can do it, but the level of preparation requires
layers, and lots of them, plus meticulous attention
to the detail of overlaps and closures. This is also
where a really good helmet plays a role because
arguably, the human head is the biggest single
point of heat loss, so the thick foam impact layer
is the best insulation. At these temp’s however, a
thinsulate balaclava is also desirable, even necessary,
under the helmet to form a more capable head warmth
system that can keep a lid on it, so-to-speak. A toque is
just not going to be enough, not even close.(If you are
reading this as part of future planning research, this is
the sort of “Heads Up” for your pre-departure equipment
check-list for “what-if” winter weather scenarios.)

The Skiing will be technically very fine with universal
smoothness within the groomed, but there will most
likely be variable rates of friction due to the characteristics
of very cold snow being somewhat sand-like at these
initial low morning temp’s.

Weather Notes:

For current readers and attendee’s, really cold out there...
be careful.

Watch out for children who may not be able to effectively
communicate the cold experience of little fingers or toes.
Default to caution and keep them inside if at all in doubt.

For future readers or researchers looking at this time period
for ski holiday planning purposes, look at the 30 year averages
in the 14 day long range graphic for guidance on what to expect
for normal daily temp ranges. This is unusually cold and not
within normal ranges, however anywhere the average winter
weather can support a Ski Resort, extreme cold can happen.
Evidently, we’re experiencing that now.

Supplementary Weather And Forecast Data
Covering Temp and Snowstorm Detail For
January 15/16/17, 2022

It is our standard practice to include Regional/Continental
weather factors whenever extreme or significant weather
occurs so readers present and future, do not think Tremblant
exists in a bubble.

Conditions Notes:

Clinically, excellent skiing, however the obvious challenge
is going to be able to safely stay outside for it. In “normal”
circumstances, i.e., without a global Covid-19 pandemic,
this maybe could be one of those days for warmup after every
2 runs or so, however there is a public reluctance to congregate
in interior spaces so there is likely a double-barrel influence
on attendance.

We think it’s somewhat probable that attendance may be
light for those 2 reasons for a typical Saturday.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
