96(*) Open Trails On All 4 Sectors At #Tremblant .
Snow White Winter Wonder.
Super snowy days are notoriously challenging to photograph,
but magnificently glorious to ski, and today offers a very rare
opportunity to experience totally unique conditions generated
by two days of minus mid-thirties C low temps followed by a
thirty degree temp rise, all in this superb cryogenic snowfall.
Today, you get to play with the laws of physics.

The unique physical characteristics created by convection
could produce some of the finest groomed ski conditions
of the season today because of the retained chill in the hill
from the last two days that is not going anywhere due to
the "heat rises and cold sinks" law of physics.
Even as the ambient air temp rises all the way up to -2 C,
we are forecasting the residual cold of the last two days
will remain effectively intact from a surface functional
standpoint because cold sinks and that means the super
dry snow crystals are going to stay that way all day,
enhancing the performance throughout the rise in the
temps, especially with an insulation blanket of fresh
snowfall as an added benefit.

“Fantastic!"

Weather Notes:
From yesterday mornings opening at -38 C, to the high of
-2 C this afternoon, means a 36 C rise in roughly 36 hours.
Wow... From “Knarly" To “Nice"!
Conditions Notes:
In the Groomed:
Extraordinary potential for excellence due to the
residual cold temps retained in the surfaces exposed
to temps touching -40 C at Mountain elevations.
This is cryogenic “Squeaky” cold snow and when
you walk over it every step talks back to you with
this loud, unique, squeaky sound emission.
This super freeze-dried snow crystal makes lousy
snowballs, it is so dry it just does not want to stay
together, but under the immense weight of a groomer
it makes a purely mechanical bond that is distinct from
other warmer ranges of snowfall. In that way, its
performance is also unique, it may have some variable
friction rates, but it should all be soft and satin-like
underfoot with an extremely forgiving nature that
means little technique errors get easily absorbed
without catching edges or tripping you up.
Add in the beautiful overnight snowfall coating and
you could end up with some really superb skiing.
These are groomed snow conditions that make you look good.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Generally, very fine to excellent, especially with
multiple snowfalls within the last week that have
very positively contributed to hazard reductions
particularly in lee-side Nord/North and Edge Sectors.
There are still some Un-Groomed trails that have
absolute Expert only conditions due to the very
chiseled/choppy mogul formations with very deep
trough’s. We are hopeful that there could be some
typical mid-season grooming to laterally level out
the tendencies for concave trail shaping from traffic in
the narrower Un-Groomed where even with new snow
there can be hazards quickly exposed in the centres
where the bulk of the turns end up being made.
Keep an eye out for grooming icons on Versant Nord/North
trails 64,65 and 66, which we refer to on an annual basis as
the epitome of mature seasonal grooming refinement at Tremblant.
If we’re lucky, that may happen in the near future.

“Extraordinarily Fine!"

Otherwise and generally, it is a Sunday weekend and
it will likely be a busy day after the cold held folks back
yesterday. Be patient if there are lift lines, the Mountain
is open til 3:45 P.M. today so if you can stay for the afternoon
that is typically when you can rack up the runs.
