Press Release:

For Immediate Release:

George Follmer Named Grand Marshal for HMSA's Can Am Reunion set for
Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada, July 2013.

MONTROSE, Calif.,
The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA)
announced that Can Am champion George Follmer will be the
grand marshal for the Sommet des Légendes historic races
at Mont-Tremblant July 11-14, 2013.

This year’s event will feature the Can Am Championship, celebrating the
fearsome cars and great drivers from that historic series. The very first
Can Am race took place at Mont-Tremblant in 1966 and was won by that
year's Can Am champion, John Surtees. The Lola T70 that Surtees raced
that day will compete again at this year's event along with a host of other
great cars from the series.

"America's Champion," Follmer, drove the John Mecom Lola T70 to fifth
place in that inaugural Can Am event. He went on to win the Can Am
Championship in 1972 driving Penske’s mighty Porsche 917/10 and finally
triumphed in the Mont-Tremblant Can Am race in 1978. He is one of only
a handful of drivers to have competed in both the original and
second-generation Can Am series, and is the only driver to have won
in both.

“Mont Tremblant has always been one of my favorite race tracks," said
Follmer. "Maybe that has to do to with the fact that I’ve won both Cam Am
and Formula 5000 races there! The French/Canadian atmosphere with
HMSA’s race sanction promises to be truly Le Sommet des Légends.
It's a great race track that is fun and challenging. Racing on it the first
time in the 1966 Cam Am, and many times after, produced great memories."

In addition to the big Can Am racers, the Sommet des Légendes will also
feature a rare gathering of Bugatti Grand Prix cars for an exclusive race
that also kicks off a week-long Bugatti holiday in the Mont-Tremblant area.
Plus, the exciting open-wheel cars from the original Formula Atlantic series
will be highlighted during the weekend as well.

But Wait... There's More !!!

The Can-Am cars will not be alone!

classes that typically include anything and everything from
F1 to all manner of European and SCCA Sports Car classes
for just a few examples...

While the final roster of attendance has not yet been published, you can
count on there being a wide variety of vintage race cars that can include
global wide sanctioned classes.

Here are some samples from our files of previous years that should get your
vintage juices flowing....

Previously at Tremblant, 1969 Ferrari 512S

One of the features we've loved at this event is the open pit access.
There are not many places where you can see a significant historic F1
car as above, then get this close as we did below.

In addition to some of the very finest European Historic/Vintage Race Cars,
you can expect to see some American Muscle too. Here's a file sample from
2 seasons ago when Trans-Am was the feature. These are priceless originals,
many of which raced here when the series was active over 35 years ago.

The 2013 version of this event is the evolutionary extension of the original
Bobby Rahal, "Legends of Motorsports" that was amalgamated with
the Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA), that is now the organizing
entity.
