Talk about close timing... The old Lowell Thomas
began dismantling in early April 2018, before the
end of Ski Season. Here we are less than 72 hours
before this Ski Season is to start, and 11.19.18 is
the very first time we've been able to observe an
actual chair on the main cable of the new Quad.
It's probably a test, but a very important stage in
having this lift functional for Opening day 11.22.18

The replacement of the old, slow, Lowell Thomas fixed
grip triple passenger chair lift, with a brand new detachable
high speed quad chairlift, could be argued as the most
important single component of the 2018 $17Mil Mountain
improvements from the standpoint of the pure, daily,
skiing experience.

We think this is a valid point because of the fundamental
enhancement to overall Mountain traffic flows this new
addition could generate with such an outright increase
in uphill capacity.

To begin with, the old Lowell Thomas took around
9 minutes to ride up on. As a Skier wishing to
descend any of the terrain serviced by this lift,
the other option was to stay moving, ski any of the
pathways to the Nord, North Base, which would
only be another few minutes, then take the Duncan
high speed quad to the summit in 8 minutes.

Basically, you could ski more vertical with a minute
or so less lift time, by not taking the old Lowell Thomas.

Now, the new Lowell Thomas Quad is going to change all
that and it is going to be a far more attractive option for
those who wish to quickly/efficiently lap on any of the
excellent terrain it services that spans all skill levels.

Creating desire to utilize the new Lowell Thomas for
its own sake, will inevitably divert Skiers/Boarders from
other lifts, and that's why we think it could positively alter
traffic flow over the entire Mountain.
