Trail # 72 P'tit Bonheur, North Side.

Post by T360 »

P'tit Bonheur is a Green "Easy" trail on the Nor-East
Upper 1/2 of the North Side, Versant Nord.

Descends from Summit, facing left, or North-East
as you walk out of the Grand Manitou. Like-wise, when
you get off the Gondola at the Summit, turn left and follow
the Trail Signs to get to P'tit Bonheur. Laps of this beautiful
masterpiece of Trail Design can be done using the North Side
Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Lift.

As shown below, accessing from both North Side Lifts, turning
right at the Summit arrival will get you to this classic run that
helps define "User Friendly" when it comes to Skiing/Boarding.

If you look closely at the Upper most defined start of P'tit Bonheur,
you can see that it's actually at the Summit, where it and La Crete
become distinct. Many people think this point is part of Beauchemin,
however the Trail Map shows differently.

We are including this Pic., because it is looking at that exact point.
One other interesting aspect of this pic is the SnowMaking "Big Bump"
in the view. Normal Mountain contours slope down at that point, but from
time to time, Crews build an extra reserve in this areas base as it does
see very high traffic and in spring it benefits in the surface durability here.

That Big Bump is on the Starting Line of P'tit Bonheur.

P'tit Bonheur is one of the most beautiful learning/carving runs
at Tremblant. Its gentle descent and high quality surfaces
allow all skill levels to focus on elements of technique without
distraction.

This pic above illustrates how P'tit Bonheur benefits from shade that
protects its superb surfaces from excessive afternoon direct solar/thermal
energy. What can happen is that runs on the South and Soleil
may get baked, their surfaces softening, then hardening overnight
while P'tit Bonheur stays an immaculate carving heaven.

We think P'tit Bonheur should get some sort of award for being the most
consistently, day in, day out, seasons start to finish, first day, first run to
last day, last run, etc., etc., etc., as close to perfect as is possible, within
the reference of Human efforts as applied to Alpine Snow Sport Surfaces.

We wrote at one point that if we died and found ourselves doing laps
on P'tit Bonheur, we'd think we were in Heaven.

Like many of Tremblant's Green rated Skill Level trails, P'tit Bonheur offers
beginners a beautiful, superb learning environment of very wide and consistent
pitch over a length that allows rhythmic, repetitive skill building practice that
can accelerate anyones learning curve.

But Wait, There's More....

P'tit Bonheur also offers everyone else, right up to Expert Levels, the opportunity
to fine tune the nuances of technique that can really be focused on when the
safe, traffic free conditions exist to do so.

We're not sure exactly why(we have our theories), but when the rest of
the known Ski/Board World can be having all kinds of glitches or conditions
dramas, P'tit Bonheur has some sort of protective cloak that keeps it near-perfect.
