Trail # 43 Tiguidou, Versant Soleil.

Post by T360 »

Tiguidou starts as a Black Diamond and below its upper pitch, becomes a
Blue Square. It runs parallel to and joins to #41, Toboggan. Tiguidou is the
second right hand exit from #40, Franc Sud, the summit access run to
Versant Soleil.

It is aprox. 500 meters in length and you can
turn right from it, just before its end to get to the "Refuge" warming
lodge on Versant Soleil.

Tiguidou is somewhat unique due to the Black Diamond to Blue Intermediate
transition that occurs from its short entrance pitch. For those with the Skills and
Control, Tiguidou offers a Gravity Launch from the pitch which can then be channeled
into Carving energy over a very smooth, progressive, and fairly wide Blue rated slope.
The end result can be extraordinary speed on the relatively gentle lower descent angle.
So, side loading your Carving Skis or Board with turning energy has been greatly
facilitated before you reach the gentle part and you get to utilize that speed and
carving force without having to worry about excessive steepness. The sensations
of high speed control are nothing short of thrilling.

If you are a confident Intermediate, come to a complete stop at the entrance,
wait for a gap in traffic and navigate the steep pitch by making slow side-to-side
traverses. On the way down, pick a spot on the pitch were you feel you are going
to be comfortable with the speed created by the rest of the pitch, then, face the
Fall Line and Let ‘er Rip!

This is a great way to build Speed Skills and as you gain confidence, move your
starting point further back up the pitch and you’ll also improve your “Steeps” abilities.
