Trail # 82 Expo, North Side

Post by T360 »

We know people that come to Tremblant to ski only Expo.

The most classic, straight down the fall line, bump run at Tremblant.

People seem to really love it or hate it, but they all respect it
just the same. It's a thigh pumping, knee burning test of skills
and abilities.

Looks a lot easier riding up than going down. Expo can have some
great powder conditions too, if the wind is low while the snow falls.

Note the double black diamond.

Might not look all that intimidating from out in the North Side
parking area, but when you get up closer...

When you look closer, see just how tiny those people are along
Expo, from the top down. That's one big one big chunk of bumps!

Expo qualifies as a sector of the lower North side of the resort
because it's namesake detachable high speed quad chair serves so much
great terrain that is only accessible from its summit.

This is a nice pic of Expo's final descent to the North Side base.
Out of the frame on the right is the Expo Quad Chair loading zone.
Out of the frame on the left is the Duncan Quad Chair loading zone.

As you can also see, the lower portions of Expo are prime "Carving" territory.
The skier in this pic has a great edge set on this very high quality groomed
surface which extends almost halfway back up the run to the "side door"
entrance onto Expo from # 61 Duncan Bas(lower).

Looking down Expo from about the 1/3rd mark below the primary
crest at the top of the run. Pictures can not really convey the
steepness of this pitch. When you are actually standing at this point
it is far more dramatic. This sample is just after winch grooming, so
it is just about as smooth as it gets. Speed builds very quickly on this
run. Carving is best facilitated with a very short radius slalom ski when
conditions are suitable and it is essential to be able to use a skidded
parallel turn/braking sequence if you have long radius skis or conditions
require that level of control.
