Trail # 17, Dunzee, South, Sud, Summit Sector

Post by T360 »

.

(Please Note: This post was written prior to the renaming of
Trail # 12 to “Erik Guay”, from “Grand Prix”. There are still
some locals who use both names in conversational reference.)

Trail # 17, Dunzee is a Black Diamond connector that runs from
the Summit entrance of Grand Prix, diagonally, and we might
add, steeply, down to the main descent pitch of upper
McCulloch, Trail # 18. Secondarily, just above that
intersection, it is the principle upper entrance to
Trail # 15, Gaetan Boucher, as well as Trail #16, Fripp,
that runs directly under the TGV detachable Quad Chairlift.

(Repeat Please Note: Update: Trail identified herein as Grand Prix, renamed
Erik Guay and is illustrated/identified on annotated pic attached below.
Existing configuration left temporarily for Historical reference.)

In this shot below, Dunzee is the the first blue Trail Sign under the
Red South Side indicator. The trail itself is not visible from this
point as is it descends quite steeply.

Standing at the Trail Sign shown above, looking across the top of Dunzee,
across McCulloch, Kandahar. Dunzee is actually descending downward from
left to right across this frame, so we can not see the bottom from this angle.

Dunzee has its own appeal to Black Diamond fans who like
Steep and Moguls and as it is highly visible to TGV Quad Chair
riders, it very quickly separates experts from everyone else
visually because it definitely requires Expert Skills to look good on.

This shot below, looking up Dunzee, was taken on the remarkably
fine, winter-like seasons closing date for the 2012/13 winter.
It might just as well have been in the middle of January or February
as this is exactly the way it looks at anytime during the mature fullness
of winter coverage.
