Preliminary Apres Ski....
You Won't Believe This....
It's Snowing Heavily In Pockets All Over Tremblant.
The Wind Is Moving Some,
There Are Other Areas Where It's Falling Straight Down
With Very Little Wind, like sectors of P'tit Bonheur.
There are very icy sectors that require extreme care,
you need to identify them and be aware. They are changing
by the hour with snow and wind.
This Preliminary Apres Ski Edit Is Brought To You By...
Tremblant Rule #1 (**)
(**) See content below for definition.
We'll have a more complete Late Night Apres Ski, with any luck,
by 11:00 --->>> 11:30 due to previous commitments, but the
essence of it is that there is a HUGE effort underway to restore
surfaces at Tremblant and the Mountain Crews are out in force...
All Over The Mountain!!
Tomorrow has a high probability of "Very Fine" with a dash of
"Excellent".
----------- 8:37 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------
45(*) Open Trails Due to "Preserve And Protect" Mode
at Tremblant following a short, above freezing by a
couple degrees C, with a bit of rain, and then back to
below zero and snowing event.....
Wheeeewwww.... down to 45(*) is going to seem to some
as a big loss of terrain, BUT....
It's not necessarily a loss of any terrain, rather, it's a preservation and
restoration process that involves taking trails off-line to inspect/protect/
restore/refresh/groom/verify etc., etc., then gradually, as noted in
todays and future trail listings as "Progressive", re-open.
DON'T PANIC PEOPLE.... all the fine Alpine terrain Tremblant has now
has not gone anywhere with this short little thermal "Burp" from
Mother Nature, it's simply off-line temporarily to assess, evaluate
and then implement a re-opening strategy.
Relax... This hasn't gone anywhere!
Yesterday, Last Run, Versant Nord, the North Side,
Lowell Thomas to Duncan Cat Track.
Of course, the possibility exists that there may be what we would guess
to be a potential increase in the glitches or hazards in some areas
like some of the un-groomed natural trails, but the vast majority
of Tremblant's acreage will be a bit damp perhaps, then maybe kinda'
frozen or really "firm" for a period of one to a few days, but it will come
back, and come back just fine, thank you very much.
Until we get up to the Summit to verify, we think there's a good possibility
that due to it's higher elevation by over 2000 vertical feet and the consequently
cooler temps that were up there, that any effects from this weather may be
minimal and that the Summit is likely where it will start to snow soonest
when the temps drop farther down.
Last Run, Nansen Haut, Upper at 3:45 P.M. "It's Still There Now Folks"....
9:15 This Morning... Foggy but snow in the trees intact!!!
Web Cam Proof of Snow... Obviously, today's Apres Ski will answer a lot of these "variable", "potential"
or any other sort of guessing questions that we have about the weather effects.
In the mean-time, don't forget "Tremblant Rule #1"....
"There Will Always Be Good Skiing/Boarding
Somewhere Within The Open Terrain".
Mountain Crews take care of this, and no matter how bleak you may
think things are, we have never found in damn close to 40 years
skiing this Mountain, that this is not true.
Today, it may well be more of the fabulous "Spring Skiing" we had yesterday
afternoon, and it is going to be less than what we had yesterday in raw
open terrain, but non-the-less, it will be there.
Working with the overwhelming hand of Mother Nature means that all
us humans can do is cope and adapt, so get out your Descente' poncho
'cause you may need it today!
Go To Tremblant And Have Fun Anyway!

how things are shaping up and we'll do our best to
capture the essence of it all in a wallpaper pic.
