Apres Ski Notes:

The overnight weather forecasts have been off the mark
for the last couple of evenings, how close will they be tonight?

If time possible, more week/recent review in reply later...

--------------- 6:46 A.M. Orig. Post -------------

95(*) Open Trails On The Very Winter Warm
4 Sides Of Tremblant.

We say "Winter Warm" because at -1 C @ 6:45 A.M.,
we're already 1 degree over the day-time forecasted high
temp that we shouldn't be seeing until 2:00 P.M.

The forecast also shows "Sunny", but the Summit Web Cam tells
a different story...see time stamp, lower right pic. corner.

So here's our one pic Summit Forecast for first thing this morning...
When you get off the Gondola and go left toward either Nansen or
P'tit Bonheur and you look over at the Lowell Thomas Triple off-load
zone, you'll see something like this:

That Could Change... if the "Forecast", "Happens".

In last night's Apres Ski we previewed a blurb we've been
working on about "Transitions" which we're including here
again today, as it will become an element in the mix of
conditions we experience for the balance of the season.

We may not have the daily cycles as there is still a lot of "Winter"
to go and there will be periods of sustained 24 hour sub-zero
days and maybe even weeks, but never-the-less, once we
have "Warm" as an exposure to surfaces, we do have to be
ready for the effects when we cycle back to, or in and out of "Cold".

The last couple of weeks in particular have been so good that you
could get away with less than perfect tuning on your Ski/Board edges
because there's just so much fresh snow that despite the firm or
icy bits that could be found, you might be able to make do without
too much loss of control input.

If we have some "warm" to "cold" cycles now, that forgiveness will
be reduced to a degree, so both performance and enjoyment are
going to be rewarded when you can maximize grip on any surface,
"firm" or "soft".

"Transitions"

It's That Time Of Year Again...

The "Dead Of Winter" ... long gone...

Valentines Day... Sweet, but this past weeks news...

And.... statistically speaking, we've reached an annual marker...
as indicated within the following Weather Network Data Chart.

For the first time this winter, the daily average high temps, based
on 30 year averaging, show "plus", above freezing values occurring,
as we "Transition" towards the weeks ahead.

Firstly, here's the chart, in raw un-notated form...

The daily cycle of temperature transitions between thaw and freeze
is the natural progression that each Ski/Board season goes through and the
Weather Stat's tell us that's the next phase we'll be facing.

To many, the warmer trend is what brings them out in great numbers to
enjoy the sweet combination of pleasant, easy temps and the fullness of
winter coverage.

We're ready for some of our most favourite conditions coming up for this
and every Ski season, so we hope you are too and that you've got frequent
Tremblant visits penciled in on your calendar for some of the most fun with
snow, sun and generally milder average temp's in the weeks ahead.

The days are getting longer... every day now, as the Sun begins to climb
back into the sky. The long shadows of the short deep winter days turn into
gloriously radiant, long bright afternoons and there are many that look
forward to basking on the chalet decks with a refreshing beverage in the warm
rays of Apres Ski.

Speaking of "Long, Bright Afternoons"...

As the days get longer, so do the Lift hours get extended...

Here's an Archival Screenshot of Tremblant.ca's F/B fan page
with the applicable dialogue on this point. We really love these extended
hours as we frequently have to do the "Afternoon Shift" on the Mountain,
so all the extra time allows us to cover more with the extra runs the
additional time permits.

Fantastic Full Winter 100% Coverages with much
milder temps make Tremblant very easy.

Be flexible in your preparations...
ready to handle all variable/transitional surfaces...
and every day you can make it will be excellent exercise
on Tremblant's "Wall to Wall", superb Alpine terrain.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If You  "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
