Tremblant's Alpine Snow Surfaces Hang In There...
Reduced as they are on the Official Trail Count,
all we can say is that despite being "Micro-Waved",
there are still open trails, so we can still Ski/Board.
Our sincere appreciation to Field Reporter A. Miller

43(*) Open Trails, North and South Sides, at Tremblant.
As our U.K. English Cousins might say...
It's Really Bloody Hot Out There!
It's so hot you could fry an egg on the hood of your car!
But We're Still Skiing At Tremblant!
Remarkably, while people are putting their Bass Boats in the water
to get an early start on the fishing season, or dusting off Golf Clubs
to hit the links, just a bit to the South, you can still go skiing/Boarding
at Tremblant!
As far as "Working" with Mother Nature on this one goes,
one way to think of it might be...
Imagine playing Poker with someone who gets unlimited last card draws
and you get 2.
"Working" with Mother Nature at this particular moment might be on
about the same level. While Tremblant has a 2 card draw of Human
and Equipment resources, Mother Nature has a Trillion-Billion-Kajillion watts
of Solar Radiation that she decided to turn up. There's not much
anyone can do other than try to preserve as much as possible by
very carefully strategising the trails that can be either opened or
conserved, but non-the-less, eventually the Trillion-Billion-Kajillion
watts of Solar radiation is going to represent the "Royal Flush",
winning hand.
Until Then... let's wax up the Ski/Board bases with "warm" snow surface
Swix, Toko or any other brand of Hydrophobic, water repelling material...
and hit the Slopes while wearing not much more than a Smile and some
Sunscreen!
Our Candidates For Best Skiing/Boarding Today Are:
-Rigodon
-La Traverse
-Sissy Schuss
-Fuddle Duddle
-La Griffe.
Soft Snow Means Soft Landings!
Just be careful to get it right, otherwise the recoveries
may be more difficult with a "Thick" landing zone.
You also have to be ready to have a Jacket for early
morning(it's only 1 Degree C at 6:00 A.M.), but by
10:30 to 11:30 , stow it in a Summit or North side
locker, North side car, backpack or any other means
you can come up with, as the heat may become too much
for personal comfort.
43(*) Open Trails on the Official, Downloadable,
PDF, Trail and Grooming status report,
Courtesy of Tremblant.ca We are not aware of any long term weather models
that predicted the intensity of this current "Hot Spell".
How it impacts the durability of the rest of the season
remains to be seen.
All we can reasonably do then is to focus on the short term
and point out that if you want to Ski or Board now, you can.
With very little effort in the way of base prep, you can even
have relatively fast and responsive Skis or Board too.
