We started todays orig. post with a "One Pic Says It All"....
and of course we put a bunch more in anyway, just to add detail.
So then, upon consideration of the days exploration, we feel compelled
to add this one as a different, yet equally significant....
One Pic Says It All, Tremblant360 Apres Ski.....
(So, do you think there's lot's of good snow at Tremblant?) ...and similarly, we got a bunch more, for added detail.
We'll post them below as a "reply",
just as soon as we can process 'em all.
In the mean-time, we feel it's quite important to encourage you
to make plans to Ski/Board Tremblant this weekend if you're a regional
Tremblant fan. We have no idea about the exact Open Trail count for the
weekend, but what we can tell you is that whatever they have open,
will be as close to perfection as can be.
We hope to get them up in the next hour or so...

This is our...

"One Word Says It All" ....
Conditions At Tremblant Are.....
Dynamite ! ! !
Get Ready for a day of "Explosive" High Energy Skiing/Boarding
when you come to Tremblant!
(pg. under construction, so why don't you Blast Off to Tremblant
instead of spending time on the computer! You'll get a real Charge
out of your day!)
From a practical standpoint, it's a bit nippy out(-21C), meaning
Garment System Layers, Seals and Overlaps Are Critical.
Temps may rise under S/Westerly breezy but very sunny sky's to -15 C,
so basically, it's very much a repeat of yesterday when we found
a surprising amount of Solar Energy helping to warm things up
on the South, giving it an advantage in the day's comfort factors.
On another practical note...
Technology has advanced so far with breathable very well
insulated Garment systems. Gore-Tex, Micro-Fleece, and
various forms of proprietary, breathable, light weight insulation
layers have all been around for at least a couple of decades now.
Even relatively inexpensive basic Parka's, Jackets, Pants Gloves,
Mitts etc., etc. are all so much better at keeping you warm than
the gear of years ago, so anyone that wants to be warm, can be.
Entry level, low price point does not mean you can't be warm anymore.
Entry level may not have all the "Bells and Whistles", loaded with
features you may never use, but it can be very warm, and to enjoy
pure winter days at Tremblant, that's all you need.
Short and Long Term Forecasts....
Couple of highlights on the long range summarized as...
"Warming, Snowing" We'll take both Mother Nature, Thanks!
Let's take a closer look at Surface Conditions...
The shot above was taken mid-afternoon at the top of the Expo Quad
Off-Load Zone and it is typical of most of the groomed surfaces in that
they are very well packed without a spec of ice. You can see the fine
particle size that is light, powdery and very very carve-able at speed.
What appear to be small lumps of snow are very powdery and instantly
turn into dust-like snow on contact.
Edge hold and grip are very high and it is possible to experience
so much centrifugal force that it literally wants to compress you
if you have enough muscle to hold on to the turning sequence of
rapidly carved slalom technique.
Cruising and/or relaxed G.S. style more open carving
is an absolute joy.
This is not to say there are no glitches. There are some icy bits and very
firm substrates that are resistant to edging force, but compared to the vast
majority, they are minuscule, small, tiny and not significant unless you have
poorly tuned gear.
All Mother Natures wild recent weather has for the most part dumped massive
quantities of Snow, but the winds that brought it also worked on some of the wide
open or steeper areas to blow off the loose surface snow and leave the hard
base exposed.
On the un-groomed Experts only terrain, there can be deep moguls and
natural hazards that can change with additional use. It is important
to match proper skill levels with terrain selection in these areas.
You need to keep an eye out for these potential challenges, figure out
the patterns of occurrence, and be appropriately cautious with speed
for your initial explorations.
