If anyone tries to tell you it was a lot warmer out today,
we might differ in opinion.
Sunny, No Doubt, but warmer? not a lot, if at all. That's a very big blue sky over Tremblant. Some faint little wisps of
cloud near the horizon, but not much else.
It was still quite cool out...
The way we can tell is how many seconds bare fingers
have out of gloves for Camera settings before "Discomfort"...
But.... that has nothing to do with most normal people who
aren't foolish enough to take their gloves off every few minutes
to grab a pic. or three. If you never had your gloves off everything
was probably fine.
Conditions were exactly what we expected... Marvellous...
Views were exactly what we expected... Majestic....
It was, exactly as we expected, a classic Tremblant Winter Day!
We finally made it Soleil, and as usual, Toboggan was
one of the most entertaining trails at Tremblant today. We
often say that Toboggan is more fun than a Roller Coaster
and today it was all of that... We expected Great North Conditions...and you can tell from this...
No Disappointments North, South, Soleil, Edge... All Good.
We heard that there was the odd icy bit and in all our travels
we found one, but with good edges, easily traversed and no trouble.
Tomorrow... Odd, but we do not have a preliminary Snow Report
for tomorrow yet, so we may not get one at all. Hard to say why, so
we will wait and see what Opens in the morning.
The Weather For Tomorrow... Cloudy, day-time high temp @ -8C
with Snow Flurries, maybe even a small 1-3 Cm accumulation, maybe...
Definitely looks like it's warming up though...
We'll believe it when we feel it...
So far, a great looking week shaping up... may have a one-day sale
on "Spring" on Wed., but that could change, we'll see on that one too...
for the entire past week, they've been out... Nature has been lower
than the Humans guessed, maybe that will carry forward and save us
on Wed.

95/95(*) Open Trails at Tremblant!
The regional "Stable" Arctic Air Mass is more like the "Stubborn"
regional Arctic Air Mass...
-26 C this A.M. ...will this thing ever move on? ...of course, but in the
mean-time we can't forget the benefit of deep frost in the Mountain as
far as Durability and Quality, so we're actually grateful it's like this
because when the next thermal "event" occurs, todays "cold" will be
our best "tomorrows" friend. According to The Weather Network, that
next thermal "event" may be a one day burp on Wednesday.
Daytime High temp today forecast at -12C under a brilliant, sunny sky
and very light winds... a super easy, very beautiful Classic Tremblant
Winter Day!, however, based on our initial "stick your nose out the door",
R&D, it is our opinion that this forecasted high may not be achieved. It's
still quite nippy outside.
Above: Yesterday saw snow flurries on and off, was cooler than expected,
somewhat warmer than before, a bit grey, had great Snow surfaces and was
certainly colourful in places!
Fresh Sharp Edges Hint... One way to help preserve the tune of your skis
is to avoid letting the metal edges contact one another. Crossed edges
are basically grinding themselves dull, so if we had the chance, we'd encourage
Skiers who may not be aware, that the best way to carry Skis is with the
bases flat against one another. Nice outfit though...
Speaking of "Outfits", Tremblant has been on the leading edge of Alpine
Snow Sport Fashion since 1939 and evidently, that trend continues. We
think the Colours Of Fun are exactly that... "Fun", so on a day that's a
bit grey around the edges, you don't have to look too far to find splashes
of brightness! This below is the last "Colours Of Fun" pic. we're running and we're including
it because it shows the somewhat contradictory contrast of yesterday
between Snow and Sun. Look closely at the blue helmet of the Snowboard
person and you can clearly see the reflection of the glinting sun showing through,
even though the amount of snow falling is obvious. If you looked straight up at
this point, you would have noticed the very blue overtones in the cloud signifying
the very thin layer of overcast above the Summit. Moving on...
We've spent some time over the past couple of days looking at Expo and we
want to re-visit this Tremblant Pure Fall Line Classic Descent, a favourite of
many, many loyal and long term Tremblant fans, because it's a good example
of a few aspects of Tremblant's current surface conditions.
We'll start with a repeat of the Expo Pic we ran in yesterday's Apres Ski.
It shows both the "Big Bump" Snowmaking(which we love because it
renders such a flawless surface when Groomed, and it can be lots of fun
and skill testing before being groomed too), as well as the immaculately
groomed lower pitch.
Below:
We're going to focus on the Groomed lower pitch though, to illustrate the level
of Grip and Shred depth that about 95% of all Groomed surfaces at Tremblant
have... South, North, Edge and Soleil... everywhere....
You can do this all day long at Tremblant, and on almost all the Groomed Surfaces.
It's this good from top to bottom, side to side and you will have a blast
doing it for as long as you have the muscle to make it work.
Why would you be at any Gym on Planet Earth
if you could be doing this at Tremblant?

Trail and Grooming Status Report, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca Conditions are generally Excellent...
Go this second if you can...
With pervious commitments, chores etc., not sure exactly when,
but there will be Apres Ski additions. Thanks for your ongoing
patience and your visit!
