12/2/13 Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski Edit/Notes:

Specifically Addressed to Regional Tremblant Fans
that may have the discretionary ability to be at Tremblant
for Friday.

We look forward to the Opening of the North Side Base Level
every season with the enthusiasm for all the additional Trails
it usually includes.

We think this years North Side Opening is going to be a special one
though, because the amount of snow accumulated there seems to
be substantially greater that average.

Web Cam reviews have shown the North Base to be Natural Snow Covered
since before Nov. 22nd and most remarkably, Snowmaking has been going
on there since Nov. 22nd, Opening Day, and we can not recall any year
in our memory when that has happened before.

What this means, to us anyway, is that when the North Opens, it may well
be one of the best quality start-off's the North has ever seen.

If you can get the day off to be here for Friday, we think you'll be
rewarded with a day of epic quality for the North Side Opening.

Make your plans now Regional Tremblant Fans.

------------------------------------------------------

Noon Update: Open Trail Count up to 25,
Plus 3 Progressive, Gradual Opens expected.

----------------------------------------------------

21(*) Open Trails on the just below Zero C,
White Winter Slopes at Tremblant.

Of course "Winter" and "White" are quite dependant on
"Below Zero", so when much of the Regional area is
experiencing a wee warm burp in the Temp's by one or three
above zero, staying on the right side by even a degree or two
is a good thing!

Below: Just for the fun of it!
From our Pic.Archives of last week... We ran a shot of this group
descending from the Summit last Wed. and going through unprocessed
shots we found this one we thought was pretty neat and realized we
recognized them from before! It's taken at the base of Johannsen at
Last Run and after a day riding the very fine conditions of the day,
it's time for a bit of camera fun!

Back to this weeks weather outlook... it will be the dominant factor
in daily conditions for the next few...

At this stage, the forecasters feel that the entire North-East Coast
of North America will experience a 4 day cycle of warmer that will
peak on Thursday.

Tremblant is forecast to be at Zero or a degree BELOW, until Thursday
which is very fortunate if it works out that way. With the LOWER temp.
differential of the Mountain's elevations, the probability is that the entire
array of very fine Alpine Slopes will remain sub-zero and there will be
no negative affects at all on conditions.

Mother Nature may have plans She is not telling us about though, so
when temp's are this close to Zero, it's possible things could swing around
a bit, but there's way too much Snow on the ground and in the base to be
concerned at all. We think it's just going to be a super easy, very mild
early winter week.

Here is our One.Pic Conditions Forecast for the next 3 days...
Damn Near Perfect!

Of the 21 Open Trails on the list, 17 of them are Groomed and they
should all be excellent, fabulous, fast, fun, smooth, high traction,
easy carving and generally superb.
.... period.

Traffic will be quite light and those lucky enough to be here will get in
unlimited amounts of vertical that will be dependant on muscle power
only, without a single minute in any kind of line at all.

If you're a Local/Regional Tremblant Fan and you can get away for a
day or two or three... don't even think about it...
Just GO!

Time for another focus on the Experts Only, Natural Snow Only,
Magnificently Beautiful, Upper North Open Terrain that got
dumped on last week... it's still there!

Above: Looking Up MCA Towards Summit
This astoundingly beautiful trail was cut as a surface "T-Bar" Tow Line
in 1948. Once Chair Lifts became the main mode of Uphill transport,
Tow Lines like this were eventually turned into Ski Runs. Narrow, for sure,
but wide enough to run a Groomer/Packer down when conditions allow,
so certainly wide enough for any experts and we take Confident
Intermediates down this trail frequently, also when conditions are favourable.

These pic's of "MCA" as local know it are all real, and now. Of all
the Un-Groomed, Natural Snow ONLY, Open Terrain at Tremblant,
we think this one is in the best shape. Opened on November 30th ???
Wow !!! That's almost a miracle!.... But we''ll take it and if you can,
you should too!
(Typically, in an average season, we'd be happy to see
MCA and this sector open mid to X-mas time in December.)

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
