We are including the following Event Archive File within “Tremblant
Geographic” because Historically speaking, the references directly
relate to what could be technically called Regional Landscape Imagery,
but is more generally known as “Fine Art”.
One thing that causes differences in the way perceptions about Historic,
Artistic Landscape Images are formed today, compared to 100
years ago, is the advent and universal access to modern photography.
While most people today think of all Paintings of Landscapes as “Fine Art”,
100 years ago that was not its singular purpose as photography was,
comparatively speaking, still in it’s infancy. Colour photography was not
yet commercially available. Cameras were not very common among the
general public. Artists Landscape renderings were still a viable means of
“Sharing” natures colourful scenic splendour.
Much of the Historic Art featured within this topic was not only generated
on site, but sold locally as well, in many cases to visiting Tourism Guests
who took these Images(Art) back home to hang on their walls as both
souvenirs and records of what they had experienced.
In 2015, one might simply snap off dozens of iPhone or DSLR digital pic’s
and share them on “Pintrest” or “Facebook” or “Twitter” or “Flickr” or similar
and the thought of needing “Art” to record memories of travel is just not
thought of as necessary.
Fortunately, there will always be Art Collectors who value talent regardless
of how old or new the works may be and those are the people who are going
to find meaning in this topic. These are the people who celebrate and promote
the notion of “Art Form”.
