Yesterday was an excellent example of how “Tipping Points” benefit Tremblant.

First.... The daytime high temp forecasted for +3C never happened.

It only got up to Zero C for about 90 Minutes at the South Resort Base, so
practically speaking, the whole Mountains Cooler Elevations remained Sub-Zero
for the entire day.

Secondly... Overcast. Sure, everyone loves a Sunny day, but at Zero C, Overcast
shades the mountain from Solar energy that at close to the freezing mark would
begin to generate softness. So, from a technical standpoint, anything that stops
“Thaw” to any degree at a Ski Resort, is a good thing and in this case the cloud
cover pretty much acts as an Umbrella keeping the surfaces shaded and cool.

“Winter Coverage” Survives for another day, or at least this morning, and with
another overnight Grooming Cycle, we think you should find Very Fine Groomed
Terrain in all Skill Level Rated Trails.

With the rise in temps to a projected high of +6 C, and under a Brilliantly Sunny
Sky... Spring Skiing Conditions will Jump into the picture quickly somewhere
between 11:30 and 12:30 depending on Wind Speed over Mountain Surfaces.

The Trailside Snowpack, i.e., the retained Snow in the Bush, is now beginning to
show signs of diminished depth and there are visible areas of ground level surfaces
exposed, particularly on the Afternoon Sun Facing sides of Versant Soleil and
Versant Sud, South.... But... so far, the Packed and Groomed density of the Alpine
Snow Sports Trail Network Base is about 97% intact with very few bare spots.

The most apparent sign of Spring Thaw to us is the Ice Flow occurring over some crests
and on steeper pitches, where after some recent days of normal Spring +/- daily
temp cycles, you can see mini-glassiers(for lack of better terms) forming river-like
waves of incredibly slow moving icy substrates. One of the most obvious cases can be
seen riding up Duncan as the chair passes over the Cossak/Mid-Expo Access Cat Track.
The Trail under the Duncan Quad at that point is #63, Les Rapides, and as the
chair rises over the crest there, you can clearly see river-like Ice flow happening.
It’s March 26th, so that’s no surprise.

What is a very pleasant surprise though, within the historic frame of "Averages”, is the
outstanding durability of the vast majority of the Open, Groomed Trail Base Coverage
for a March 26th, that seems to be much the same as it has been for over a month.

Weather Notes:

Interestingly, the last day temps got up to this forecast level was March 17th,
so for the past 9 days “Winter” has persevered on Tremblant’s Mountain
Elevations and Trails, some days by barely a degree or two, but non-the-less,
enough to keep “Winter” in coverage and quality. Thank Goodness for “North”...
as in Latitude, a significant Tremblant asset.

The Sunny Scenic Tremblant Views Are Spectacular!

Some of the Most Iconic Scenery in North America is right here, in the heart
of the Laurentian Mountains. This region is part of the Global Geological Feature
known as the Pre-Cambrian Shield, arguably, the oldest Rock on Planet Earth.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
