(**)"Awesome Specific Weather Components” may seem like an odd way to refer
to the days characteristics, but that was indeed the case. As a Component, “Sunshine”
is an irrepressible Mood Enhancer for Human Experience. “Sunny Days” are
idyllic, regardless of season. As a Component, “Cold" is an element that requires
significant Human Adaption for functional capability. Arctic and Antarctic Explorers
were the equivalent of Space Travellers in their day, and there was profound
respect within society for those brave souls who could endure cold and live,
as exemplified by the first Humans to reach the Poles and Return.
As a Component “Wind” has facilitated many of the most historic adventures
of Human discovery and the confirmation that Earth was indeed spherical.

Todays "Awesome Specific Weather Components” may not have set any new
dimensions for the Human(Ski) Experience, but they surely did remind us
about how demanding the (Ski)physicality can be. At the same time they
remind us of the sense of accomplishment at mastering them, and even
thriving in them, to effectively make the best of them. We also need to
acknowledge the clinical excellence of the Alpine Snow Sport Terrain,
regardless of how “Awesome” the weather components are.

In other words...

it was really, really Windy and Cold and Sunny, and(with the specific
exceptions as noted within the body of the Original Post below
regarding “Crests” and “Trail Centres”), the vast majority of the Open,
Groomed Trail Network is Very, Very Fine, “Excellent” for ANY December 26th.

If you have to have bare fingers to operate camera controls,
it might generally be considered “Stupid” to be taking pic’s
outside today, so the safest place was right where we were
for this one. Inside, Warm, and through the Window.

It was not a day for the Faint of Heart, but it was a magnificent day
for the Brave of Heart.

It was the kind of day that Defines the Dedicated and Kicks the
Superficial squarely in the butt.

A Clinically Awesome Winter Ski/Board Day and evidently,
according to the forecast, a prelude to the next week or so of Very Pure Winter.

In other words...

Get psyched for more “Cool” this week...

See Orig. Post Below for all applicable detail.

Tremblant Mountain Guest Feedback Favoured Versant Sud, the South Side
yesterday, and a very pleasant “Lets Do That One Again” Award goes to:
Trail # 30, “Linge de Pente” on the Flying Mile Sector.

A couple or three days ago we featured a docu.pic of the massive
Snowmaking effort on the Flying Mile sector above the Resort Base,
so it may come as no surprise that together with the freshness of the
Opening Plus a big bunch of New Snowfall, that this little gem comes
in with a very fine review.

Another reason to go to some of the Nooks and Crannies of
Tremblant where there are almost always very pleasant surprises
that await those who like to explore.

O.K., so it’s really “Winter” Out there now. Time to get out
all those Layers, be Very Sensitive to Frostbite potential,
and be prepared to come in for more frequent breaks.

This is an upcoming period of “Zero Exposed Skin” where
a bit of careful attention to coverage and overlapping in
your exterior shell can pay big advantages in comfort for
any amount of time outdoors. This is when “Detail” matters.

The Skiing and Boarding Will Be Excellent... But...
You Will Want To Be Fully Prepared Before You Set Foot Outdoors.

Weather Notes:

On the Bright Side...
There are distinct Mechanical Advantages directly applied to
the Mountain with this forecast, including the increase in the depth
of frost into the Mass that will be effectively stored refrigerant for
the entire balance of the season, PLUS... the “Freeze Dried” effect
of very cool on the Surface Quality Performance that are very easy
to execute control movements on.

What You Really Need To Be Careful With...
Is facing into the wind. With this direction, the wind will
be coming up the Mountain directly over Taschereau and Beauvallon,
and crossing the Summit towards Duncan and Lowell Thomas.
-Make sure all your Gaps are eliminated or overlapped BEFORE
you get on the Lifts.
-Make sure all your gaps are eliminated or overlapped BEFORE
you start your descents.

Conditions Notes:

Winter Kool Conditions are almost always “Easy” and “Forgiving”
because the Snow is so dry. Friction rates at these temps can
be slightly elevated, but that usually means it’s easier to face
the Fall-Line due to the extra control you’ll have over gravity.

There may be some lingering softness in some sectors that
had more than average snow because of Drifting. There may
be Icy bits where the wind or traffic have worked to expose them,
but they should be in recognizable patterns associated with the
topographical crests or highly traveled trail centres within descent
lines, as well as converging trail intersections or entrances.

With specific regard to “Crests”: When you approach a Crest where
you can not physically see the surface below the Crest, Slow Down
or Plan to Stop Before you wing over the top. The Icy Bits are typically
just out of sight, below the crests. Time after Time... we see folks
have problems due to unexpected loss of traction that is completely
avoidable.

With specific regard to “Trail Centres”: It is a “Pet Peeve” of ours to
hear about “Icy” on the centre of a trail like McCulloch, for example,
when there is usually beautifully soft snow on both trail-sides. Those
trail-sides are usually several metres wide, more than enough to make
for great Skiing or Boarding descents that completely bypass the Icy
that may be in the centre that is endlessly traversed and/or scraped off.

By All Forecast Accounts... It’s going to be “Winter”
for the next several days, so a Positive Attitude and
Careful Attention To Sealing The Gaps Of Exterior Layers
will reward you with the Technical Excellence inherent in
these Record Setting Dec. 2017 Conditions.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
