12/30/17 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 11:50 P.M.

For the first time in several days you
could actually feel Heat in the Sun.

By any normal standards, it was still cold, but
not so cold that staying outside for multiple runs
was unpleasant. You could actually be outside
without undue discomfort, and if you could find a
safe, wind sheltered, sunny, trail-side spot, within
a minute or two you could feel real heat.

For the sake of International Context, there are News stories
on virtually every Broadcast Media about Record Breaking
New Years Eve. Low Temp’s, ever, extending from North Florida
right up the Eastern Seaboard.

Otherwise, fabulous quick surface quality over all 4 corners
of Tremblant with a bit of relief on the comfort scale this afternoon.

Half of North America May Be FFffrrroze Hard...
but the Cryogenic Snow is so good that you can
Carve like a Surgeon with a Sharp Scalpel.

If you can dress for it(within today's specific circumstances),
the Performance is optimal for all Skill Level Rated Terrain.

The Specific Circumstances are that there is a Forecasted Temp.
Rise of 15 Degrees C by just after lunch. So, if you dress for
the initial -33 C it is now, you may find it oddly “Too Hot”
all afternoon.

Our Tip for the day is therefore to plan for attendance at about
10:00 A.M. because by then it should be up about 10C, and the
spread between there @ -22C and the afternoon high temp at -18C,
will be far easier to accommodate.

Amazing to think that -18C could be considered “Too Hot” under
any circumstances, but if you’re actually dressed for -30’s, you’ll
find out it is possible.

Above: Looking Up Expo Quad POV

Expo is one of those trails that looks way easier riding up
the lift than it does going down under it. The Whole of
Expo Haut, Upper, is rated as a Double Black Diamond
and it deserves all the respect that would signify, however...
when it is “Winch Groomed”, as it is now, it is actually at
it’s “Easiest” within the range of typical descent quality.
That means that if you find yourself comfortable on Single
Black Terrain, and you are motivated to try Double Black Terrain,
giving Expo a shot today may be a consideration.

Great Learning Snow.

Tremblant is Covered with great learning snow
on all sides. This Nord, North example is one
of our fav’s and when you see so many Instructors
on it, it’s evident we’re not the only ones who
appreciate it’s fine, even rhythmic descent line.

Trying to take a Ski-Scaled Snow Surface Sample Pic. with Expo
in the background...

Having a recognizable object like a Ski Tip in the picture
helps show scale. We were trying to do that with Expo in
the Background to illustrate the nature of the surfaces,
when out of nowhere...

"Great machine groomed powder especially along the sides.
A golden drop of sun as we head to the top of the North side
Spent the better part of the day cruising the gently rolling
groomers on the North. Deep base especially for this time of
year with plenty of light crisp machine groomed powder to
carve into. No wait times. Followed some great pointers for
staying warm. Relaxed expectations for a high mileage day
and and enjoyed warmth at the North Base and libations at
Grand Manitou. Classic Tremblant.”

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
