1/3/18 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 11:27 P.M.

Don’t Let The Overcast, Flat Light Fool You...

As Grey as it may look, the surfaces were Brilliant with Responsiveness
and Speed.

The performance in the surfaces was almost exactly
what we expected in terms of Grip and Control.
There was one additional attribute that we did
not expect, and that was the amount of “Glide"
that was greater than normal. You get used to
an average amount of Glide when you are very
familiar with specific trails. Coming on to a plateau
you might think of how far across you’d get
and when to skate to make the next crest,
but today, there was a lot of Zip in the surfaces
so coming on to that same plateau, wow, no skate
steps at all, just Zingggg, and shoot right across.

And It Was Great For All Skill Levels!

Ton’s of Training and Lessons going on all over the Mountain.
Great to see so many out on the slopes working their technique.

This below is a quick peek at the Snow Surface, sampled at the
Base of the Versant Nord, North Side, Expo Quad, adjacent
the runout of Fuddle Duddle Bas, Lower. It is as light as dust,
cold formed, Powder Snow.

Despite the Weather that was overcast, and a bit windy,
it was still arguably the best day of the Season So-Far
with Great Traction, Speed and Control and a Big Bunch Of New Snow!

Notice To Early Bird Readers @ 3:38 A.M.:

If You Can... Leave For Tremblant As Soon As You See This!

We Could Be Wrong, However, The Combination Of Forecasted Co-Factors
Including Ski/Board Conditions and Weather, suggest a very high probability
for Today to be a truly exceptional day.

This is the best Theory we can think of to explain it...
Rising temp’s within double-digit Sub-Zero Ranges with snowfall typically
produce very high rates of traction as the increased level of internal
humidity in the “Warmer” falling snow hits the Super Cool Base
where it can instantly bond. This can result in a cushion that effectively
generates a reliable “Banking” effect because of the way the first fallen snow
seems to adhere to the Base.

The “Banking” effect is a natural enhancement to any pure Carving
technique where the arch of the carved ski(s) possess a completely
supported running contact patch along 100% of its entire longitudinal
edge, so the Lateral/Turning Grip should be at the highest levels possible.

The Low Mountain Traffic of Post-Holiday, Mid-First-Week January
implies the All-Day Surface Quality, particularly the Groomed, and
recently Groomed. If all 96 of 96 Trails are Open again, then there
may be frequent times when you are the only Human in view.

The quality over 100% of terrain has the significant potential
to be Extraordinary and Excellent at “Best Of” Seasonal Levels.

Weather Notes:

Please Note: The Day-time High Temp was revised upward
from -11C to -8C within the last few hours. we think that
may enhance Mother Natures natural Snowfall production.

Conditions Notes:

There is a high probability of unique drifting features that
may naturally accumulate due to the low-to-moderate wind
direction from the South. Trails on Versant Sud, the South Side
may show this drifting to favour the descending Left Trail Sides,
and on Versant Nord, the North Side this drifting may favour the
descending Right Trail Sides. Beyond that, Narrower Trails that
descend through Tall Trees may see unique fill-ins.

The Groomed Open Terrain should be all of “Extraordinary”.

The Hors Piste, Un-Groomed, Sous Bois, Glade Skiing and Boarding
should all benefit. Caution is still advisable within all Un-Groomed
Open Terrain.

There may be particular examples such as the “Edge” Sector that
enjoy significant accumulations beyond the statistical totals.

Explore Responsibly.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
