As beautiful, serene, majestic and timeless as this scene

unsafe weather factors.

In last nights Apres Ski we wrote that there could be lift
related issues today, so it comes as no surprise to us that
the following notice is the introductory text on the Official
Snow Report.

Tremblant.ca Advisory:

ATTENTION: SOLEIL, DUNCAN AND EXPO CHAIRS
DELAYED DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER, ACCESS TO
THE SUMMIT BY THE SOUTH SIDE ONLY.
Bonjour from Tremblant! Today, weather conditions and
the presence of strong winds challenge us. Our grooming,
patrol and lifts teams are currently on the ground to assess
the situation. We received 20 cm of new snow in the last
48 hours. As strong winds can affect the ski lifts, we invite
you to consult our conditions message which will be updated
frequently. Have a great day!

A Giant and Very Complex Weather System is affecting
the whole East Coast and North Eastern Regional
Land Masses Today.

With the Peak Wind Gust Velocities, it is possible that
the Wind Chill Values could exceed -40C/-40F.

Conditions Notes:

The Open Groomed Trails are 90% Very Fine.

There are some Wind/Traffic exposed Icy bits in usual
patterns below crests and at Trail Intersections as well
as narrow Trail restrictions where traffic gets funnelled
into small areas.

In the Un-Groomed Open Terrain there are many Wild Cards
of both Super Fun and Hazardous.

You Need To Pay Particular Attention To
Ski Patrol Hand Posted Signage.
The Warnings They Contain Are Real.

Observed Example:

Versant Soleil, Trail # 95, Algonquin.

When Algonquin is Open Groomed, it is one of the finest “Green”
Trails in Eastern North America.

The entrance to Algonquin is clearly marked with Ski Patrol
Hand Posted Warning Signs, but... there is a wide open, clean
and smooth appearance over the visible descent.

That initial appearance changes dramatically below the first turn
to the point that yesterday and today, it is the equivalent of a “Black”
Experts Trail with uneven surfaces, moguls, all manner of organic
plant material, as well as many invisible rock hazards that are covered
by thin snow. Damage to Ski/Board Bases is highly probable.

The reason we are drawing attention to this is the amount of
“Blue Air” negative feedback in the Soleil Quad Lift Line as
people coming off the run were very vocal in their groups.
Considering the Clear Visibility of Posted Warnings, is it a
bit unrealistic to complain when the decision to go there
could have been made differently?

On The Flip-Side, The Unquestionable Quality of Nansen as
Tremblant’s Marquee “Green” Trail, has existed All-Day, Every-Day
with very close to flawless surfaces.

Bottom Line On Conditions:

If you choose Terrain matched to your actual Skill Level
and pay close attention to Posted Signage for daily
Ski Patrol advisories, you will have an Excellent Day at Tremblant.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
