Ready... Set... SNOW!

Ready... Set... SNOW!

In an official press release last week, Tremblant announced that weather permitting, Snow Blowing operations could commence as early as November 1st.

While Mother Nature has not dropped to low enough overall temp's to justify turning on the guns yet, we certainly are not too far off, and as the attached Web Cam Snap Shots show (Web Cam Snap Shots courtesy of http://www.tremblant.ca ), all the equipment is in place to be able to take advantage of the required temperatures as soon as they happen.

The ability of any Ski Area to predict a season opening and the time necessary to build a base is built on both past statistical weather history and current, future short term weather forecasting data. These factors are used to calculate a weather "model", what should be "do-able" as the fall to winter season weather patterns establish themselves when each winter approaches.

A review of the Weather Network 14 day projections, shows that the immediate future for the Tremblant region is indicating a lower than average median temperature, which of course is good for our season opening forecast. If you look at the overnight temperature projections for the next week, you will see that they vary from -3c to -9c, so we certainly are reaching down into the Snow Making Zone.

Naturally, all of us super enthusiastic Tremblant Skiers and Snow Boarders are anxious to see the temps drop and the guns blasting, but at this stage, it is important to sit back, relax and let Nature take its course. The Snow will come and in decades of Skiing Tremblant, the expert crew on our Mountain has, as far as I can recall, a very high level of accuracy on opening day.

Of course, Opening day coverage can vary year by year, but Tremblant's Height Above Sea Level as well as its Northern Latitude give it a natural advantage, so whatever the prevailing conditions are on the East Coast of North America, Tremblant will always be at the very top of Quality and Quantity.

In the mean-time, now is a great time to get out all your gear for pre-season checks, step up your pre-season fitness program and while you're doing all those leg exercises, "Visualize" all those perfect turns you'll be doing in just a few short weeks!
