3/5/18 #Tremblant Conditions

96/96(*) Open trails on the Ever-So-Nicely(#), Still White Winter Slopes Of #Tremblant .

Every Day The Open Trails Start At 96/96,
You KNOW, there’ll be Fantastic Ski/Board Conditions!

(#)We say “Ever-So-Nicely” because we don’t think you could
imagine a finer line than the very few, even one or two, degrees C
that separate the look, feel, and performance of “Winter” from
the the more “Spring-Like” conditions that those one or two degrees
upward might make.

The Diagnostic and practical way to immediately determine
that is....

Snow In The Trees.

This is real, and you can go and find it today at Tremblant.

Even at these very close to ZeroC(that have called for rainy bits...)
Mountain Elevation Cooler Temps have dominated over the Alpine
Trail Network, and...
Stat’s-Wise, it’s actually an Official 7cm’s/24hr,
24cm’s/week, New, Fresh Snowfall!

Regular readers... all 413(?) of you(**)... may be tired of hearing it,
but for all who either need a reminder, or had not thought about it,
it’s true... The Snow in the trees has no insulation, and it is
subjected with great immediacy to the ambient atmospheric
temps from every direction that surround it.

It can not escape any form of heat.

One degree either way can keep it or melt it, and the effects can
sometimes be seen in minutes.

Fortunately, it is not critical to Ski/Board performance, but it does
tell us a great deal about the probability of Snow Surface characteristics
due to the affirmation that there are currently no significant thermal
effects.

In the case of recent days, that seems to have greatly helped “Winter-Like”
fairly light and dry snow to fall at Tremblant, despite near-warm Base,
Ground-Level temps. We theorize that is due to the formation of the
snow in atmospheric strata way above the the Mountain in the Winds Aloft
where it is much cooler.

The likelihood is that there will be a line, evident firstly on the Sud, South
side, at or above the Resort base that will begin to differentiate the Zero C
mark as the Snow in the Trees is exposed to factors that melt it off.
This is not necessarily just Air Temp’s, as for example, two degrees below
Zero C/27/28 degrees F, but with No Wind, and Strong Sunshine, can generate
enough Radiation to Zap the Snow in the trees out because the Fur Tree
needles are Dark Green, and “Dark” green absorbs Solar Radiation causing
Heat Buildup in the immediate vicinity(That’s a big reason we expressly
state that we’re happy for “Overcast” when temps are at, or close to, Zero C/32F.
Keeping Strong Sun of with Mother Natures own Cloud “Umbrella” can
make that critical difference that keeps things Cool enough to retain Tree-Snow,
sometimes for days.)

Sorry for late/delayed posting, long story, but we
actually have to be off the Mountain for a bit due
to an immediate family med-emerg. requiring
instant depart and 1400KM one-way drive...

(**)lol... we really don’t know for sure, but we’re just a very small niche
site of perhaps the first defined “Digital Ski-Bums”, and in the typical
Ski-Bum state of poorness, can’t afford a “Mass Marketing”, Super SEO budget
or the kajillions of hours it would take to figure out how to out-smart the Internet,
so we have no choice but to rely on totally “Organic” reach and recognition for
nothing other than the value of shared useful information?

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
