The Official Snow Report makes a very legitimate reference
to Temperature Oscillations Above and Below Zero C that are
responsible for the Progressive/Delayed Opening of Un-Groomed
Terrain due to safety issues associated with freeze and thaw cycles.

This is not only a good point for the explanation of delayed Openings,
but also the inevitable creation of “Icy Bits” that are also the consequence
of those very same Temperature Oscillations.

It is the Nature of “Spring” Skiing/Boarding to have the laws of physics
influence surfaces. Softened, saturated Snow subjected to above and
below Zero C within 24hr daily cycles does potentially produce Icy Bits
anywhere within the Open Terrain Array, regardless of Groomed or Un-Groomed.

All those facts lead us to the re-mentioning of the most fundamental
utility for “Spring Skiing” and “Spring Boarding”... which is... “Tuned Edges”.

As long as things are either Pure Winter, or Pure Spring, where
those terms can be respectively defined as stable 24hr temps
below Zero C, or stable 24hr temps above Zero C, Edges are not
as critical. As soon as you add in “Oscillations”, temp movement
across the Zero C mark, up and down WITHIN 24 hr overnight
periods, that’s when those pesky Icy Bits can occur that ONLY
Fresh, Sharply Tuned Edges can effectively grip on.

It is once again a very important time to point out Optimized
Safety and Performance require Tuned Gear.

If At All Possible, get your Skis/Boards Tuned At Le Ski Shop at Tremblant.
We are not sponsored by them. We pay for our Tune-ups and we get them
done here at Tremblant because they have what is arguably the very best
Ski Tuning device in North America, the “Wintersteiger Discovery II”.
It is a CNC Automated Ski/Board Tuner that is very gentle on Bases
and Edges, yet yields Razor Sharp Results that are dimensionally true.
The “Magic” is the Operator Skill Level, and that’s where Tremblant’s
huge volume allows the very highly trained staff here to accumulate
more experience-refined Skills than almost any place on the North
American Continent.

Their “CRAZY GOOD” Overnight Discount Rate @ $34.99 +Tx’s, Is
Ridiculously Excellent!

Drop ‘em off after "Last Run", Pick ‘em up before “First Tracks”,
and You Will Think Someone Gave You New Skis. Period.

Not to mention... you will “Laugh” at Icy Bits, and maybe even,
you won’t even notice them.

If you are coming from London, England, London, Ontario,
Yew York City, or any other far away place... Drop them off
on your way in the Evening, and be ready to hit the Slopes
from your first morning and for your whole Ski/Board Holiday
with the safest, best performing gear possible.

Le Ski Shop is located adjacent to the base, P-1 level of the Cabriolet.
It is in the Chalet des Voyageurs, and when you go in the front door,
Turn Left.

Conditions Notes:

Due to the fact that this is the beginning of the annual
Spring Ski Season, the icy bits should be very small in
square area compared to the overall excellence in surfaces
when the Open trail Count is still at 96/96.

Small Or Not... it is encountering even tiny zones where
loss of traction can cause accidents that should be word
to the wise about Speed Control on all New Terrain Explorations.

Do Not Take Conditions For Granted. Caution is Mandatory
in the daily process of confirming Safe Passage, BEFORE you
go ripping around.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
