74/102(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud/South, Nord/North And Soleil Sectors At #Tremblant.
Very fine late March conditions continue on with
definite shades of winter as temps bump along
mostly below Zero C, but sometimes edging into
the plus side by a degree or three at Base levels, so...
You Should Be Racing Over To Tremblant!

We had a wonderful opportunity to spend time with
a genuine Race Coach yesterday late afternoon. We
are inspired by Race technique that has transferable
elements to virtually all levels of recreational skiing.
From the very simple stance of balance, to the very
sophisticated nuances of speed and edge control,
racers and their coaches demonstrate ideal levels
of dynamic stability both on and off the course.
Every single person on the Mountain with two skis
attached can benefit from the drills and discipline
Race Coaches impart to their eager trainees.

When you get to Tremblant you’re going to inevitably
see Racers in training here, virtually every single day.
Tremblant has an excellent regional and even global
reputation for producing World class competitors on
it’s very fine technical slopes.
Tremblant produces Olympic Gold Medal Winners.
Tremblant produces F.I.S. World Cup Champions.
The very same skills building fundamentals of Jr. Racers
can literally be applied to every single recreational skier
who makes the time and utilizes the benefits of consistent
practice that is guaranteed to result in improved skills and
confidence. Will there be “Spills” with your “Thrills”? Of course...
Skiing is a totally physical and mental engagement and if
you’re not having or risking the odd flip or fall, you’re either
stagnant or perfect, and as we all know, “Perfect” is only a
concept along a pathway of trying to improve in some small
way, each and every day.
Skillful recreational skiers can constantly be seen at Tremblant
using many of the basic elements of racing such as the low,
compact, forward leaning athletic stance and the fully committed
weight transfer to the outboard turning ski which you can see both
of in this sample below.

Conditions Notes:
At this stage of late March we have been most fortunate
to have roughly 80% winter and 20% spring in the surfaces
on a slightly variable basis considering either ambient air
temp’s and/or solar radiant energy, so conditions have
been predictably firm in the mornings with degrees of
lower level softness in response to any or all uniquely
evolving daily thermal influences.
On any given day during the Spring phases of the
season when temp’s float just above or just below the
freezing mark, this is a most common phenomenon
and anyone planning a visit from now until closing needs
to be ready for that with tuned gear.
The overwhelming sense of conditions status is the very
close to universal smoothness that Mountain Crews
have baked into every mornings first tracks. So far,
the net result over the still well chilled and stable
trail base has been all-day mogul resistant quality
across practically speaking, the entire groomed array.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed
there are individual zones and sectors with mostly
excellent deep base reserves you can measure in metres
of thickness. Are they hazard free? No, daily use between
snowfall events can and does reveal some hazard exposures
but compared to what might be historically more common
for March 29, they are relatively minor and one could even
say maybe just as typical as the middle of February.
Here is a quotation to us from a Tremblant Expert Local with
decades of experience here who specializes in Un-Groomed
and Sous Bois:
(Specific reference at 3/28/23)
"I’ve probably never seen the Lower Ryan without
a few exposed rocks here and there. However,
the conditions were better than this January and
February.
The few rocks were easily avoidable and actually
quite predictable. Yes, I must admit that I know
them all by name and that we are quite intimate.
I actually initiated a few long-term Tremblant
skiers to the Lower Ryan yesterday, they were
pleasantly surprised by the conditions.
It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely out of this world."
Merci for that Claude.
The summary is:
To carry the essence of winter foundational base quality
this far along(especially as April is so quickly approaching)
is pretty much amazing, but here it is and we think you should
be racing over to Tremblant to take advantage of it.
