Finally, The Big Numbers Of Open Trails That Really Big Snow Brings...

For the first time this season, we have fully open sectors as
both Versant Nord/North Side, and Versant Edge are fully
open at the very same time.

Since 1939, Joe Ryan knew that the Nord/North sectors got
more snow. It took him 10 years to assemble the resources
to develop it, but in 1948 his dream to realize the full extent
of Tremblant’s 360 degree conical, geophysical potential.

Why does Mother Nature favour any side at Tremblant?

It is our theory that the explanation can be found in the
routine benefit that Tremblant gets from Orographic
snowfall.

Here is a link to the technical explanation for why we
think there’s so much and so rapid an accumulation
to allow this seasonal milestone to occur after these
two most recent snowstorm systems:

Definition And Functional Description Of Orographic Precipitation.:

http://tinyurl.com/2f49szyw

In the case of the last week at Tremblant what we think you
have seen is a combination of both frontal rising orographic's,
as well as push-over/backfill orographic’s that have occurred
due to the unique wind flow patterns around and over the
Summit.

As each snowstorm system passes over the wind
direction swings around as the centre or the eye of the
counterclockwise Low Pressure system swirl moves across
the region. When you combine that with the velocities that
are either strong enough to push snow over the to the leeward
side of the Summit, or gentle enough to allow settling at or
below the Summit on the windward side, you can extrapolate
the kinds of possible outcomes, however.... actual, repeated,
frequent, most often, regularly, primarily.... probably since the
last ice age... at Tremblant, that has meant the the bulk of the
abundant accumulations have statistically occurred right where
they are today.

Conditions Notes:

Very heavy snowfall that can mean heavy in both terms of
absolute volume of thickly falling snow as well as, but not
necessarily always, heavy as in weight caused by internally
retained moisture, i.e., excellent “Snowball” snow that is
heavy because it is damp and hand packs very easily, with
light pressure.

There is a lot of both so far today.

Vitally important for Beginners and less confident Intermediates
to remain within appropriate Greens today as thick, rapidly
accumulating snow increases challenge/difficulty levels.

For Experts and Sous Bois fans... Go Crazy!!!

Please Note: Your T360 author is not yet able to
be on site due to a post-surgical, medical LOA.
We expect to have that cleared by mid-December.
12.16.23-UPDATE: Due to LOA logistical support
issues, plus other scheduling issues, return
delayed but working on A.S.A.P.

Thanks for your patience. In the mean-time, we
intend to maintain the daily, chronologically filed,
weather and trail status data plus whatever
observational commentary possible for archival
date/seasonal/historical period sampling.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
