98(*) Open Trails.

Two Good Reasons You Want To Be At Tremblant Right Now:

Here Is A Typical Crowd Scene On The Trails At Tremblant.

For sure, there are many places with a lot higher
traffic density like trail intersections, lift off-load
zones, where big groups of visiting schools
or bus tours are circulating, or common access
corridors, but out on the bulk of the individual
trails, more often than not, it’s exactly as you
see above.

Here Is A Typical Performance Scene On The Groomed Trails At Tremblant.

We would call the majority of groomed surfaces
to be pretty close to what you see above, especially
on the outboard trail-sides where there are wide
bands of these wonderful light, dry, loose top layers
that are very responsive to control inputs with such
totally obvious, massive levels of grip.

To be objective, there are some thin zones where either
traffic or wind patterns have moved the top layers aside,
however for the most part they are in very recognizable
patterns around contour crests, trail narrowing, trail
convergences/intersections, so they are easy to anticipate
and use caution around.

But WAIT, There’s MORE !!!!

If You’re A Legitimate Expert Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades Fan...

There is a Chair-Lift/Chalet chatter consensus within the
group of regularly attending regional locals that the conditions
at Tremblant over the recent few days are the best of the season.

We would add the proviso “So-Far”, because in our opinion
the season is still building, so we do expect that the apex
of conditions is yet to come, and that furthermore, there
will likely be an escalating series of “Best Of So-Far’s”.

That should be your adequate motivation to get out
to ski Tremblant as soon and as often as you can. Period.

Conditions Notes:

Any reference to “Seasons Best” carries the overwhelming
degree of excellence that can be currently found within
almost every trail category, however, it is still only January
24, not February 24, so the levels of accumulation are
not yet at the peak of what the season will likely see, so
there are some hazards that can be encountered.

In the Groomed, there can be some wind or traffic exposed
base zones, a bit more noticeable in the later hours as traffic
wear may reveal, so we would absolutely recommend well
tuned edges as being highly desirable for optimized safety
and performance.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed,
it is a far more individual situation where there can
be untracked powder up to your waist on one hand
(see yesterdays Sous Bois report), while on the other
hand, for one example, the au natural bump line under
the Expo quad, a primo “Un-Groomed” zone has visible
rock and twig/wood organic debris hazards that could
damage your skis if you have too much speed and hit
something “Pre-Cambrian”. Bottom line here is that you
need to be a legitimate Expert, and use slow, cautious
speeds to be safe in any/either of these extremes.

While there is everything from select excellence to
demanding challenge across the Sous Bois group,
in our opinion, the stars of the show are the vast array
of immaculately Groomed trails with their consistently
very high quality across the entire skill level range.

If you bring tuned gear, and respect the Green/Blue/Black
rated skill level trail ratings, you will have a fabulous, fun,
fantastic, fast and safe day.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
