“Things Can Change By The Hour” should actually be things
will change by the hour, by at least two dimensions. The first,
most absolute source of dynamic trail snow surface change
is going to come from temps rising from below Zero C, to
above Zero C, then to compound that, the typical -4C temp
difference between base and the cooler summit. It all adds
up to hugely variable wild cards with very little predictability
beyond momentary relevance. That’s why you want to
talk to the Info.Ski Crews. They have the local experience
to understand the nuance of evolving weather and how
that can benefit your skills and abilities. They can literally
steer you in the right direction.
The second possibility for change could be in the amount
of open terrain, the number of open trails. We think there’s
maybe less potential for change in that department because
of the stability of available terrain over the recent past. Today
is a very typical spring skiing day hourly temp profile and
we really don’t think there are any reasons to expect much
change in the open trail numbers.
Weather Notes:
At least it’s overcast, that should keep
saturation levels very low all day.

Conditions Notes:
The jewels in the crown for average skiers are
the freshly groomed as they will be by default
the smoothest, most easily navigated open
terrain. With the temps floating up to just above
Zero C at base levels it is possible the Summit
could remain cool enough that firmness will be
the predominant characteristic, but this is one
of these “anything can happen” scenarios due
to the potential development of late day sunshine
at the same time temps peak. One thing for sure,
Versant Nord/North side is like to remain firm all
day because it will simply be too late for late day
warm factors to work in to any significant level there.
We also think that with the trending lower late season
attendance, there won’t be much in the way of wear
factors. It’s a Holiday Monday, and usually the regional
long weekend warriors will want to head out around noon.

It may not last long, and it may not amount to
a lot, but it’s way better than hot thaw and great
way to mark the beginning of April with the literal
and symbolic signs that you can never count winter
out at Tremblant, right on up to the final phases of
the season!
