Mechanically speaking, and like it or not, we have had the
very first hint of what will become the normal, predictable,
Spring thermal cycling with the little residual signs of the
brief heat exposure from a couple of days ago.

What that means is that there are some firm and small, slightly
icy bits that are primarily on the lower elevations where the
warmth was more significant. The upper elevations remained
so much naturally cooler during that period that they largely
escaped warm effects.

So now, with a return to a multi-day 24hour sub-zero C pattern
we will see the daily reduction in those small icy bits to even smaller
dimensions just because the repeated grooming night-shift will
have a 5 day reprieve from any new thermal influence and all their
efforts will produce a daily incremental increase in rendering out
the previous thermal effect.

We mention all above as an attempt to be clinically objective
about todays specific point in time, but it is very important to
emphasize that the Alpine trail base has 463 cm’s in it that at
the end of February, is already well over the 30 year annual
TOTAL seasonal average of 438 cm’s.

A Word To Wise Future Planners...

This impressive stat alone is one of the most fundamental
components of why we not only have such an extraordinary
overall quality now, but also, why we can reasonably look
forward to an exceptional Spring skiing season.

This is a hugely important signal to anyone with discretionary
planning capability who is contemplating a spontaneous Spring
Skiing Holiday. With such an excellent deep base, enhanced by
over 50 consecutive days of Polar Vortex amplification, we think
this upcoming Spring skiing season is going to be a historic
highlight of durable quality and scope that you should be making
every effort possible for attendance.

Weather Notes:

The Sud/South Resort base may touch +1C today, but our
forecast is that cooler elevations over the trail network are
going to keep winter cool all day. From this point forward
it looks like we’re going to have a 5 day southbound wave
in either or both the Jet Stream and the Polar Vortex as
we see 2 very cold overnights projected for Saturday and
Sunday. Fortunately, both those daytime’s recover significantly.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

The overall quality is very high with a descending
scale from the Summit down as the recent warm
primarily affected only lower/base Sud/South levels.
Whatever little icy or slick bits there were yesterday,
they will be less today because of the incremental
grooming improvements that came with another
night-shift that rendered out glitches over a wider
scope.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

From very fine to raw Expert challenge with naturally
occurring hazards typical of conditions that have
evolved by weather and use since the last big snowfall.

Slow speeds are critical for safety on all initial explorations.

There are some hazards that are not visible from above
until you are almost on top of them so the abilities to stop,
pivot, turn or jump need to be instantaneously deployable
for both personal and equipment protection.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
