Let’s face it... Especially In Spring, Eastern North American Skiing
Can Sometimes Have “Firm”...
If you have the resources to own more than one pair of skis,
this might be the time to have the appropriate tool for any
Sub-zero C “Firm” Spring morning. They don’t have to be
expensive either, we got these Atomic F.I.S. SL Race skis used,
but in excellent original condition, off a local internet trading site
for $250.CDN and we use them a handful of times a season
for “Firm” conditions. For the most part, they do not “see” ice.
They are a short 12.5M turning radius, they are nimble, they turn
like scared snakes and because they were gently used they are
nicely broken in and quite easily handled (without the stiff
harshness they may have had when they were brand new),
while retaining tenacious lateral grip. They are so much fun,
we look forward to mornings like this just to get them out.
It’s like driving your Corvette on the race track...
Just a thought...
Weather Notes:
In absolute terms the temps are not unusual for a Ski Resort,
however the potential velocities in the wind gusting are going
to make for absolutely piercing wind-chill at times so this is
is a definite “Bundle Up” alert.

Please Note: Throughout the day there has been a significant elevation
differential of cooler than average between Sud/South Resort Base levels
and the Summit. Typically this differential is -4C, Base to cooler Summit,
today we have observed up to -6C.

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Fast.
Of course there’s more to it than that, however
the predominant effect of going from way warm
to way cold is obvious. You’ll need to explore
cautiously to begin with while keeping an eye
on evolving patterns that are likely to develop
quite quickly with traffic, especially where trails
get narrow or converge at intersections. Watch
out for all topographical crests and the pitches
under them. People tend to skid sideways over
these sections and that can displace the top
freshly groomed layers under which the very
firm base may be evident as a slick substrate.
Do not assume the run you did an hour ago will
be exactly the same at repeat.
If you don’t have sharp edges, you’re “nuts”.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Lumpy.
------- Equipment Caveat: ----------
Bring sharp edges, or better yet if you’re arriving for a School
Break multi-day ski holiday, get them done here at the Ski Shop
at the Cabriolet/P-1 Base.

Please Note:
At time of orig. posting there are 17 “Progressive” Open’s
that are pending Ski Patrol confirmations. We would expect
those to clear by between 9:30 and 10:00 A.M.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
