Starts Like Winter, Ends Up Spring!

A typical spring daily temp cycle from
well below freezing to well above freezing,
with the added bonus of a game changing
big whack of fresh new snowfall!

Cosmetically, it should be almost an exact
copy of yesterday.

Here Is Where The Snow Is...

If you go back and look at yesterday’s “Proof Of Snow”
Sous Bois sample, it is within a few metres of these very
spots, so we can tell you for a fact that with this last
snowfall yesterday, there is now up to a metre and a half,
that’s 5 feet of snowpack in the Sous Bois here and that
is excellent news for both current and sustained conditions
quality across all ranges of open terrain in Nord/North sectors.

Weather Notes:

Very favourable low wind forecast so even if
a bit cool to start with, solar energy will be
immediately apparent and all sensations of
warmth will escalate quickly when combined
with the rising air temps.

On The Verge Of Soft...

Here’s sample from a couple of days ago
as we might see in similar conditions today.
Look for these kinds of sweet spots where
the top layers are just breaking into softness
but still don’t build moguls or get slow from
thaw.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Today could quite possibly show some of the
Spring Seasons sweetest combinations of
synergistic weather and refined incremental
grooming. At least as far as “Spring” goes,
and maybe even relative to the whole season,
there could maybe be some “Best Of” front-side
carving performance today, but within the window
of time and temperature where the heat induced
softness is just in the top layers and there is still
a complete absence of thaw or saturation. Based
on the hourly weather profile, we’d say between
10:45 and 2:45 might be the peak of Goldilocks
conditions.

It is important to note that sweet spots are/can be
sort of like a revolving door at Tremblant because
of the progressing arch of the sun over the Mountains
conical shape, all of which can be compounded by frontal
or lee-side wind that are the likely consequence of
daytime solar generated thermal air flows. The
important thing on this point is that for best results
you want to be observant of patterns as you explore.

It is highly probable that optimized performance may
migrate from side-to-side, or from top-to-bottom
so don’t be afraid to do lots of repeats if you find
zones you can really find a good rhythmic groove on.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Experts Explore Responsibly... with a bias towards
cautious line-of-sight navigation where you may
need to pivot, stop, hop, skip or jump virtually
instantly because some, maybe even many hazards
may not be easily visible from above. There are
many of our Sous Bois friends who are expressly
using their old “Rock Skis” to address the prospects
of risk.

It is possible that there could be either restrictions
or changes in these trails access so please respect
any and all Ski Patrol hand posted signage and stake
marked hazard zones.

Roughly 1,283,476 wild cards of fun, challenge, evolving, lumpy,
bumpy, fast, slow, deep, steep, snowy, rocky, great, froze, soft,
fabulous anything goes unpredictable “Spring” adventures!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
