A Remarkable, Very Close To Pristine, Snow White Winter Day On April 16!
(#) We define any season with 20% over the 30 year average(439cm’s),
as a “Super Season”. Beyond that, we define any season reaching 600cm’s
as a “Super Season Superieur” for highlighted labeling because it is such
a rare statistical achievement.
In the modern era of weather and snowfall statistics record
keeping through our actual data recordings back to the 1990’s,
our “Super Season Superieur” designation has only been
achieved 3 previous times. (2008, 2019, 2023)

Weather Notes:
Everything depends on how quickly the heat builds,
or does not build, during the middle hours of the day.
What we see so far is that the elevated temps are hanging on
to quite a bit of cool with the Summit Info. Board temp showing
at -6 C. that’s maybe cool enough to offset any real warmup until
well after the noon hour, maybe all day.
For the sake of higher quality ski conditions, we’d be happy
with cool. We’ve got sharp, fresh edges and we’re ready for
some unusual April 17 winter fast action!

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Generally very fine to excellent, and considering the April 17 date,
excellent all the way around by almost any historic metrics due to
yesterdays beautiful, authentic, late season snowstorm.
First tracks may have some mixed refroze or icy bits because
there is a complex mix of temperatures within the top strata
that have underlaying signs of thaw, but where the top layers
are overnight -5C refroze. We encountered several zones of
thawed substrates under the new snow yesterday and the
unknown factor is how deep did the cold work in overnight
as the temps did not reach their max cool until just before
sunrise.
Eventually, like around the noon hour, plus/minus, softness
should become the predominant factor. It is highly probable
that Nord/North slopes will hang on to firmness for the longest
and maybe even keep cool for the whole day, but at temps
rising to their peak well after noon hour, there are big, big
wild card tipping points possible that could make it go either
way so you’ll need to be responsive to lots of potential variations.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
There is enormous potential for fabulous closing days
Sous Bois conditions as a consequence of this gorgeous
last minute winter snowfall.
Of course it’s on limited open terrain, it is April 17 after all,
however when Versant Nord/North Side trail # 83, “Dynamite”
is open at this stage, you know it’s an exceptional spring.
