-------------- T360 Apres Ski Edit At 10:39 P.M. ---------------

Have You Ever Heard Of A Weather Forecast That Was Wrong?

The evidence speaks for itself.

There was quite a bit of regional ground level rain
but things were definitely not as bad as the forecast
had suggested up on the Mountain.

Local Expert Feedback Consensus... Skiing Very Fine.

More in the morning, but the weather looks iffy overnight...

Standard Adverse Weather Protocols:

At first tracks, believe it or not, it’s actually snowing... but that’s not going to last.

Weather Notes:

This is a classic “January Thaw” event and from the perspective
of every historic profile for this common phenomenon, it is
remarkably short. Many January thaw’s can go for days and
have profound impacts, but in this case what we see is a very
brief inconvenience and if you are an optimist, there could
actually be seasonally related benefits(see below).

Please Note: In the lower right side model below you will see that
there is a small clear zone to the immediate Sou-West region of
Tremblant where there is no colourized, active precipitation. If the
rotational path of the system remains the same, that means that
Tremblant could actually see some relatively clear weather for a
portion of the day.

Why An Early Thaw/Wet Event Can Be Beneficial:

A short warm/wet event now can generate a foundational
strata that eventually becomes a barrier to the advance of
Spring Thaw as it functions as a thaw-resistant membrane
within/underneath all future snowfalls, when the real heat
of April arrives.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Clinically very fine to excellent on what is open
because basically, it’s “Spring Skiing” for today
and if you have the practical means to stay dry,
the surfaces should be smooth, fast, grippy and
if it wasn’t for whatever wet might be coming out
of the sky, there’s actually fantastic performance.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

In what is open, very useable, with even a lot of
select fun where soft spring-like conditions make
for easy, forgiving bumps, however there may be
thick overtones where depth accumulations bank
up and the difference between soft/easy and
thick/sticky might be measured in inches.

Experts only extreme exploratory caution with
slow speeds are required for the entire available
terrain in this group.

All this while temps are rising, when they begin
to fall back to below Zero C, expect reductions
in availability over coming days until more snow
falls.
