Let's Talk About The Weather...

A couple of things...

1) We love the cold nights.

Why is the cold good for Tremblant?

Every night we get at these very cold temps helps keep the
frost in the Mountain. Basically, the Mountain acts as a massive
ambient temperature storage unit, and in winter the core temp is gradually
driven lower by repeated exposure to these very cold overnight cycles
which becomes sort of like a thermal momentum headed down.

As the earth tilts on it's axis and the sun rises higher in the sky with
the consequent warming that is spring, this process is reversed, so any
delay in that process, extends the quality of our season.

What we've seen over decades, is that when the Mountain stays colder,
longer, we have significantly better conditions through spring in the obvious
preservation of surface quality, but more particularly in the number of runs
open.

Anything that helps keep more runs open for longer can only be
regarded as positive, so that's why we like the cold nights.

2) Things are definitely going to be warming up though, and at the
very least, this next 7 day period is going to be "Interesting" !

The majority of the predicted precipitation is snow, but as the temps
rise up toward zero, the potential for rain does increase, BUT...
weather forecasters are differing slightly on the temp predictions and
we think fortunately, the difference of opinion leans toward a colder model
if anything. Of course, that will favour snow, but there are other factors as well.
Firstly, Tremblant's summit is typically 4 degrees C lower than the base.
Secondly, the North side of Tremblant can have quite different weather
from the South, so much so that we have seen it raining on the South
base at Johannsen, while it is thickly powdery snowing on P'tit Bonheur,
Lowell Thomas, Duncan, Expo and Sissy Schuss.

Bottom line here is that anything can happen, but we're thinking the odds
favour Snow!

Let's talk about the Skiing and Boarding!

Excellent!

Generally speaking, Tremblant is in fine shape and within the daily
variables, things are better every day because Mountain Crews simply
have had another day to refine the groomed terrain.

Speed, Braking, Control and Conditions Caveat:
You may still run across slick or icy zones where the wind moved the snow
off the wider or steeper pitches, or in concentrated high traffic/wear zones, but
these patterns should be fairly obvious and speed, steering, and braking control
will be critical for safety in those areas.
